Mar 19-20 Snow/sleet/ZR/Rain Event

Figured we should start a thread for this one since there's going to be a period of wet snow for a good chunk of the region...esp from about Rt 2 region northward, but perhaps even a bit south of that for a time.

The latest ECMWF has a moderate snow event from about CON northward into Maine...though even a chunk of interior MA starts as snow and some sleet/ZR too tomorrow night.

Mesoscale models continue to be much juicier than the global models on this one....max qpf is more in the 0,4-0.5" range on the globals (up in Maine) while it is near an inch on the mesoscale models.

NAM reins it in a bit this run. Pretty much 0.50-0.75" in the jack zone through 12z rather than the 0.75-1.00"+ it had been advertising.

Someone could get a little paste bomb...nothing like 25-40 ub/s smack dab in the SG region to maximize anything squeezed out of this.

GYX seems to think that it will go to rain all the way to the mountains?

I don't think so, in their AFD, they say this:

IN THE MTNS AND FOOTHILLS THE PCPN SHOULD REMAIN SNOW AS MODEL TEMP PROFILES SUGGEST.

Most of the coastal plain should go to rain eventually...even up to maybe IZG.

Boy--whatever happened to optimistic Kevin?  You're sounding like the 'woe is me" Kevin instead.

I am hoping for 1-2" but expecting <1" here

Looks nice for SR area

Same expectation here.  Fun times for Ginxy, though.

It's almost unimaginable in one of the coldest March's in history that SNE hasn't had a snowfall since Feb 17th. Absolutely mind boggling. Hopefully next week pans out
