Stormlover74
Snow or no snow, the cold currently forecasted is incredible Sent from my iPhone GFS still showing a slow warmup next friday eventually getting into the 60s to close the month. The cold only lasts about 4-5 days
earthlight
so we could be looking at something sneaky developing ahead of the A.F with a rain to snow scenario OTHER than the potential MECS for Wed? You can see the wave developing on the DGEX. In this case you're looking for slightly more amplification despite a progressive flow to get some overrunning precipitation here. It looks like a situation where either both or neither could work out.

famartin
and somehow it still manages to hit Southern New Jersey the hardest with 6-10 inches of snow. Amazing. That sure looks like a Norlun trough to me...
MJO812
Watch the weekend wave.Could be the appetizer to the main event.
Rtd208
Watch the weekend wave.Could be the appetizer to the main event. If there is a main event, we are just going to have to wait and see. Also you might want to read Steve D's latest thoughts in the "Vendor Thread" and throw some thoughts out there.

IsentropicLift
The GFS is really, really digging the energy. Looking good.

IsentropicLift
The northern jet dropping in is just ridiculous. Need that to speed up.
IsentropicLift
Another possibility that hasn't really been discussed is that this energy over the lakes captures the storm and drags it back towards the coast.
Heisy
GFS looks even better, shortwave digging farther West and its deeper....could be a good one
IsentropicLift
It's really, really trying hard this run. Northern stream closing off at H5 at hour 138.
ag3
Closed H5 low near the lakes getting ready to tuck the coastal in. Many classic storms had this look.
IsentropicLift
Still OTS, we need this northern stream energy to drop in faster, the phase is occurring too late.

Hurr_Tracker13
It's going to blossom late for us, just like the trees around here. If anything, this will be a New England storm. The rest is simply hype.

IsentropicLift
Coast sees decent snow. Maybe an inch or two, just looks like spotty showers, the CCB stays well offshore. Best way to describe this run is a day late and a dollar short.

Superstorm93
Obviously, the GFS isn't far away from a big storm. Northern stream is a bit slow and there appears to be a broad nature to the trough.
SnoSki14
Not much improvement then if it's well offshore, gonna take a miracle to get this further west. At least expectations are low.
Hurr_Tracker13
Exactly, some people are acting like this has to come west, no it doesn't, the flow right now is very progressive, we need a 50/50 block or at least a temporary block, but wow it bombs out for NS
Ed Lizard
On the plus side, Euro PPV 10 meter gust maps on AccuWx show gusts in excess of 100 knots just offshore, and 70 knots inland Nova Scotia. If only we had a Canadian subforum.
