DomNH
I just woke up and checked my phone...wow. Does it look like the 12z at 500mb with the best forcing well off the coast only to get captured and brought back closer later?
joey2002
Euro against the world Euro often seems to have a mind of its own, lol.
jm1220
Now spread the wealth to the NYC subforum. I think we all often enough know how these storms go-feast or complete famine. This run seemed to be a Boxing Day outcome 100 miles northeast?
weathafella
It's a full fledged blizzard. 960 as it lashes us.
wxsniss
Long live the median... we called this 12 hours ago based on the ensembles. SLP shifted at least 100 miles west from 12z.
weathafella
Succinctly, euro verbatim would verify my 1-2 foot metro Boston call from earlier today.
DomNH
Having not seen it I'm guessing a lot of this has to do with the serious inv trough feature it was advertising at 12z. I heard double barreled. Oh well back to sleep.
joey2002
953mb vs 1028mb at 18z Wed... 75mb difference between the high and low pressure!
TheSnowman
Then the EURO caught the nails to the coffin - and threw them back into the sea. Dr. No, is Dr. Yes. LOVE when the EURO makes us happy!

DomNH
Yeah, the low actually gets pretty far east, but the heavy precip extends well west of it.Haven't really seen that look on anything else...definitely not on the GFS and maybe only a hint of it on the GGEM. The Euro is either off its azz or tomorrow is going to be a fun day. Who knows.
weathafella
Yeah, the low actually gets pretty far east, but the heavy precip extends well west of it. Actually, the low comes in close but opens up at occlusion and then slides east after the damage is done. Hence the stretched up appearance. joey2002
Snowmap gives Boston over 15 inches of snow and the Cape over 20 inches of snow. Cape gets over 2" of qpf between 6z and 18z alone, lol.

Jerry, the Euro develops 2 lows which is possible in this situation. It will be interesting to see which model ends up correct. The other models are all out to sea. Baroclinic Zone
I'm not ready to ride the euro. I really need to see other guidance do this. Euro has been prone to over amplification. Would I like a blizzard, sure. See you in 12h.
wxsniss
Succinctly, euro verbatim would verify my 1-2 foot metro Boston call from earlier today. What got it done? It looks like more shortwave energy rounding the base of the trough --> an earlier capture / trough goes negative more quickly. As I said again and again all day based on correlating how the shortwave energy ejects with track, subtle nuances with this system will make a huge difference in impact. And despite all the 18z/0z runs, we didn't flinch. I was here April 97, and the ensembles today had the feel it could trend that way. Still a ways to go, but this is a hugely promising run tonight! weathafella
It would really be unusual for the euro to be so out to lunch on a d3-4 prog.
