Scarlet Pimpernel
This is just about to jump ahead of the March 3 event...with Jan. 21 now in sight, to make #2 on my list this winter. I think that's doable. Now over 10" for the month of March, simply incredible and hands-down the most snow I've gotten in March since moving to the area in 2001. I haven't seen snow like this in March since living in northeast Ohio.
Ji
looks like this is way better than the storm i missed on March
evaporativecooler
4.25 inches as of 15 minutes ago, sn+ as the death band rolls through. I'm really just hoping that some snow piles from this monster survive till early April. That would be heaven!
MDstorm
I have a feeling winters not over yet. I think we have one more left in the tank. You better not leave this board again. MDstorm
MDsnowPRO
http://www.marylandwx.com/radar-data/ Thanks a lot. Bookmarked. Tried to talk a picture of heavy snow falling around my lamp post. A picture just doesn't do it justice. Heavy snow at night around a light is something that can only really be appreciated in person. Loving this. ers-wxman1
Oh??? My inner weenie says, "I'm in, then!" I think at least we end up colder than normal for March, even with some of these very warm days. I'm a big kayak fisherman on the side and I just get the feeling that I won't be taking out my gear anytime soon ;-)
Jebman
BIG BIG flakes swirling around. 26 degrees. Closing in on 4 inches. That means I have hit 40 inches on this season. I see interesting developments to the west and southwest. I think we all might get our clocks cleaned out but good come about 130am - 2AM
real
I am starting to doubt a closure now due to there being much less snow on the streets than other surfaces, and maybe the earlier ending time. Seems most could be over before the commute? Based on what we know about how quickly snow will melt from paved surfaces when the daylight hits in late March, it would be almost irresponsible to taxpayers to close federal govt. tomorrow. Think 2 hour delay is more likely, unless DC gets up to 8 to 12 inches
MillvilleWx
closing in on 1" here in Carney. Reporting steady SN with SN+ lurking to my south, I think I can get 2-3" by the time it's all over with. I'm just excited to see everyone to my south get in on it. I've seen enough snow this year from 5 different locations. Enjoy everyone
mosi76
automatically rolls over. expect a call around 4am. my money is on a delay I just checked OPM website, and it says on-time for 17 March. Does that mean they made the decision, or does it just default to that once the clock strikes midnight?
Kay
Finally snowing well...on top of about .25 so far...staring at the Baltimore Band just to my south.
Scarlet Pimpernel
Thanks a lot. Bookmarked. Tried to talk a picture of heavy snow falling around my lamp post. A picture just doesn't do it justice. Heavy snow at night around a light is something that can only really be appreciated in person. Loving this. That's tricky to do. But try setting the exposure parameters for some point just outside the light area (where it's darker), to force a longer shutter (if you can keep steady or have a tripod, or have good image stabilization). That sometimes helps, I've found. Or, take the picture with a tree or some other object just shading the light so you can get a good shot of the snow streaking across. Well, my feeling is we'll be in the God-awful 90s with 70 dew points or more soon enough, so I have no problem with delaying that as long as possible!
