this storm was sooo crazy! all evening i had to watch hvy snow on radar 10 miles west of me. LITERALLY! I watched it on webcams too. now that it is here. im afraid of the dryslot forming just south of rochester. Im nuts.

Your right this storm is insane. If that deform band pivots and stays over us all night were going to be clobbered by tomorrow morning. Going out in a minute for my 12:30 measurement. I still say someone in Wyoming County hills gets 12+ out of this. This is definitely WSW criteria all across WNY. The NWS not issuing one was a failure. The roads out there today with the slush were some of the worst driving conditions all year.

one of the most interesting things about this storm has been the NWS (out of BUF by the way, lol) has absolutely refused to raise winter storm warning flags. even though they have been warranted for the last 4 or so hours. What gives? They arent usually pridefull like this. It was a horrible storm to forecast. but it is a few degrees colder. NWS should of pulled the trigger before the 11 o'clock news when forecaster Josh Nichols in Rochester correctly raised his total to 6-10" in METRO rochester. Certainly warning criteria. NWS is lucky tomorrow is a sunday so no major consequences. I remember years ago they used to act funny about this stuff. but Nizzolio put them in line. I'll bet some new dude (or more likely girl) was on and just didnt care.

Landed up with 7.5". Quite a bit more than the original 1-2" the NWS was calling for last night. Still a flurry or two in the air. Nice event for sure! Still think a warning should have been raised for S Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Wyoming and Allegany counties where totals were in the general range of 6-12" , all falling in a 12 hour period or less.

Yep...tough forecast for sure, but, IMO, should have been a recognition that WNY was on it's way to warning criteria event last evening...so a bust.

After doing calculations this morning my seasonal snowfall total now stands at 171.0" which is by far the most snow I have ever experienced in a single season anywhere I've lived since 1994. Quite an incredible season with 2 blizzard warnings (before this season there wasn't a blizzard warning issued by BUF for 21 years) , countless windchill advisories or warnings, and one of the coldest November-March periods in history.

Pretty much got clobbered here on the West side of the ROC.  8 inches of 8:1 (the ratio might even be lower than that) snow in the driveway this morning.  If that wasnt a winter storm I don't know what is.  BUSTED.....

Oh well, they've done a phenomenal job all year, we'll give them a pass on this one.

Looks like we got the whole mixed bag here lol. At some point overnight it must have switched over to freezing rain then to all snow for a bit before all that it was a monsoon of rain. Everything had a nice coating of ice with a coating of snow on that. Crazy weather this has been.

Same here in Phoenix. 1.42" of rain. A soaker. I was bummed a bit we didn't switch to a heavy, wet snow. It would of been snowing so hard late last evening. Oh well.

7.5 inch total. What an epic wet snowstorm. This is the most insane winter I've ever lived through I think.

definitley a once in a generation winter around these parts. With climate change and how cold/snowy we really were this year it's not unreasonable to think we may never experience a winter quite this harsh (persistent cold, 2 blizzard warnings, countless windchill advisories/warnings and 50-75" above seasonal snowfall averages) again in our lifetimes.
