Whats your take for here on out for mby

Probably some -ZR within the next 90 min and then maybe some IP with the heavier echoes off to the SW. It should change to light snow by 4am or so, but hopefully we can blossom the precip shield a bit more. We may see things perk up a bit as the low intensifies east of BOS after 4am or so.

Wow... MHC is completely overpreforming anything that has fallen during this event in Albany. Half Dollar sized flakes (perfect very large dendrites) and coming down pretty good right now (at least 1" per hour). Don't know how long this will keep up, but the band is setting up perfect for Albany proper to get in on the action. Those -15 deg C temps at 850 hPa are really doing the trick!

LOL this band is just insane... we are probably picking up 2-4" from this band in the next couple of hours alone!

this is incredible for MHC.. just measured 3" of pure fluff with 2" in the last hour. looks like it could keep going until 10-12Z if the hrrr is right.

Yep... and you actually see more deformation forced reflectivity further upstream. We could theoretically get 3-6" of snow before daybreak. So incredibly lucky! If I weren't studying for a test tomorrow (and grading homework) I probably wouldn't have stayed up. What a treat.

So could someone who knows ASOS answer this...why all the sudden are the automatic observations going to something over than snow? It's still snowing pretty hard.

BTV is 0.5sm fog at 13/9, and MVL is 0.5sm haze.

Precip discriminating sensor caked up with snow...so ASOS treats the reduced visibility as an obscuration like fog or haze.
