mitchnick
ot...wasn't the GGEM the first model 3 or 4 days ago to call for the 2 part event with us getting snow for today? yes, I think so but please correct me if I'm wrong I mention it only because of the GGEM's 84, 96 and 108 hr maps off the 12Z run today http://weather.gc.ca/data/model_forecast/colour_images/12_054_G1_north@america@zoomout_I_4PAN_CLASSIC@012_084.jpg http://weather.gc.ca/data/model_forecast/colour_images/12_054_G1_north@america@zoomout_I_4PAN_CLASSIC@012_096.jpg http://weather.gc.ca/data/model_forecast/colour_images/12_054_G1_north@america@zoomout_I_4PAN_CLASSIC@012_108.jpg

Grothar of Herndon
Leesburg band has arrived. Pounding pouring with larger flakes falling from the sky...woohoo! Herb@MAWS
Looking at live road conditions/reports on TV and with refreezing tonite (was there really any melting?) I think OPM will go with delayed arrival/telework option tomorrow. (at least I hope so! a little mixed-motive here) Last "apparent" band moving thru Howard County. Temp IMBY has held at 15.5 for last 90 mins.

Scarlet Pimpernel
Starting to come down really good again with larger flakes in Chevy Chase, MD. I've got ~4.0-4.5" last I checked nearly an hour ago. Maybe with this last band I can push 5 or so, we'll see. Bank thermometer nearby says 21 degrees.

Ian
You are in NW, right? I imagine you are definitely closer to 4. After seeing some of the recent obs in here I am much more confident in my 3.25 right now. I think I can top 4 as the next band moves through--if it takes its time.Yeah Cleveland Park. 3" seems low but I got more 3" than anything else. Finding a good spot is hard tho and I'm sure plenty of people are overmeasuring in drifting.

Herb@MAWS
Looks like a mod band from just N of Petersburg to west of HGR is building more E-ward than SE-ward. Plenty of time to watch it on weenie radar.
North Balti Zen
Ian, Cantore is on 4th street on the mall now go get him. As god is my witness, he should never be allowed back in the DC/Balt area for a storm. Ever.

PWC Split
Almost 6.25 in Haymarket, still moderate snow. Real big flakes, piling up pretty quickly now, though would not call it heavy snow.

Finding a good spot is hard tho and I'm sure plenty of people are overmeasuring in drifting. I'm going to measure in a bit in Franklin park at 14th and K since it is a huge park and I can walk around and get a legit measurement I had roughly 2.5 -2.75 at around 9:30, so I'd think I am near 4" but maybe not
Grothar of Herndon
16.9° really coming down. It's just beautiful. Our road was just plowed and you would never know it. This has been a good storm for us. Flake size increase with this band is impressive with temps at 16-17 degrees. We may end up with 7" Just gorgeous snow falling right now! EastCoast NPZ
Snow turned off abruptly here in Middletown, VA. Amazingly the last bit of coating on the sidewalks (from previous shoveling) is melting rapidly, despite temp of 16F, and still cloudy skies. As soon as the precip stopped.... BAM.
