...COLD AIR TO CHANGE RAIN TO A QUICK ICY MIX THEN SNOW EARLY

THIS MORNING...

.AN ARCTIC FRONT WILL SLIP SOUTH OF US TODAY. AREAS OF LOW

PRESSURE WILL TRAVEL ALONG THIS FRONT WITH PRECIPITATION CHANGING

FROM RAIN...TO AN ICY MIX...TO SNOW BY MID MORNING. THE MAIN

UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM WILL HEAD EAST AND PRECIPITATION ENDS FROM

WEST TO EAST MONDAY AFTERNOON.

THIS EVENING. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* LOCATIONS...FLOYD COUNTY.

* HAZARD TYPES...SNOW.

* ACCUMULATIONS...3 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW.

* TIMING...RAIN CHANGING TO SNOW AFTER 9 AM.

* IMPACTS...ROADS WILL BECOME SLICK AND HAZARDOUS.

* WINDS...NORTHEAST 5 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...FALLING INTO THE 20S DURING FOR THE AFTERNOON.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

I hear ya, been a colder winter down here but not really that snowy outside Feb 12-13. I know you've crushed it up there. 

 

You all got robbed a couple times before that one.

 

i'd have to look at the numbers to be sure of this, but my memory is that anytime we end Jan with >20" our total for the winter comes in at more than double that.

It's one of those things. I'd say Richmond, Danville and Lynchburg triangle is only place on East Coast below normal. Barring a disaster, should be at climo by storms end. 

 

Decent winter to track at least, just not great results.

Radar may very well fill in, but current trajectory and short range guidance indicates DC is going to be on the northern fringe of the good stuff. Starting to look like this will be a 3-6 type of storm with the exception of those further south in VA.
