Well I am supposed to have a court case on Monday to evicted my tenant... guess that will not happen... book the storm since I really need to do something on Monday.

PS... I have almost finished my measuring stick from the last storm... I guess I need another...

We get this snow.....and those temps.....this winter tops 09-10. Truthfully, it already has in my book, if for no other reason than it's consistency.

Really? I think people forget how awesome 2009-10 was.

Within a two week period we had 4 storms that dumped 50-70" on the area..not even counting the 20" on December 19th.

The Feb 9-10 storm was incredible. True blizzard falling on a solid 20-25" snowpack, layed down just days beforehand.

Areas here that are protected from the sun and north facing ridges have had solid snow cover since 1/21.

Yeah. We still have snow piles as well. But February 2010 is the most incredible thing I have ever seen as far as snow goes. When you have over 4 feet of snow on the ground nothing compares to that.

People forgetting how amazjng 09-10 was. It wasn't just 3 ku's

The uber cold Jan event was sweet but winter ended after hecs3. I like the complete package ala 02-03 style. I was in Germantown then and its my personal #1. If the Mon storm produces this winter will rival 09-10. One more event even if.light will surpass it.

I view things differently than many though because of my Rockies ski bum days. Complete door to door will always edge big hits and cancels.

That's a tough call.  In terms of sheer concentration of snow and snow amount...not to mention 3 KU events...nothing will top 2009-10 for a LONG time.  That 12 day period from Jan. 30-Feb. 10 was remarkable, plus a record breaking amount for the season.  However, you're right in terms of consistent cold and number of events to follow...this winter was better in that regard.  It seems similar to 2002-03.  2009-10 was over after Feb. 10, and kind of went out with a bit of a whimper.  If we get this event on Sunday night and Monday, this winter will go out with a big exclamation point, and we'll be almost brutally cold for a few days after it's over.  In many ways, this could rival 2002-03.  (Side note:  in some ways, this winter is turning out to be what the underestimated 2006-07 winter could have been, but just couldn't quite get there, we just missed out on the big VD storm in February which likely would have put that season over the top).

Yeah 02/03 is number 2 for me right now. But If I get another 9+ inches this winter and top 60 inches. This will move to number two for me.

Good chance that after the Mon. storm it  still won't be over.

I dunno dude. I need 5 more 10 inch events to equal my 09-10 winter

Yeah, anyone saying this winter beats 09-10 has probably forgotten how remarkable and spectacular it was. Nothing we've had this winter has gotten anywhere close to those two back to back blizzards in February, not to mention the area's first true December HECS since records began. No other winter has had 2-3 HECS in one season (and when I say HECS, I mean widespread 18"+ totals). I don't even think most SNE snow weenies have had that (except maybe Boston in 1978, but the young ones weren't alive).

Perhaps...the GFS sure doesn't look warm through mid-March.  In fact, quite cold I have to say, if it's right.  There could be another light event here or there, but the upcoming Monday storm will probably be the last "bang" (and quite a big one at that if it verifies).

agree....3 years of cr@p will cause distortions in memory

this year has been a great winter, but not like 09/10....more like 77/78 or 81/82, and possibly approaching 86/87

I've been here since summer 2001.  Thus far, this winter is a close 3rd to 2002-03, and the Monday storm if it materializes as indicated now, would sneak this year into 2nd I think.

It's just perspective. I know I'm a total outlier. Very few if any will view the snow thing the same way as me. I spent 7 years of my life living and dying by ski conditions. 09-10 would have sucked on the slopes. I know it sounds weird but I'm weird so...

If you're in this hobby, you're weird already!!! :P

And I say that being guilty as charged in the same way!

Nothing will ever top 2009-2010 for me with back to back massive storms and 50+ inches of snow on the ground. I think maybe DCA folks are less impressed with that winter since the second Feb storm was a bit of a bust there. It dumped 20+ on me with blizzard conditions.

yep...only time in my life when I actually started to wonder if that was too much snow

That Jan 30-Feb 10 stretch will probably never be beat. Add in the other HECS and the winter is on its own no question there. If we're just talking snow there's no real comparison locally at least.. tho maybe closer once you get N/W when all is said and done.
