February 25th-26th snow threat disco and obs

I believe it was the 1/26/11 event where IAD had 9 inches on the ground in their METAR but then reported something like 7" for the storm...which of course made absolutely no sense since the snow depth prior to the event was 0.

I'd think this is an event they should do ok in. They got in on the best bands and temps were below freezing for that stuff. Maybe lost a smidge on the front end but even at home there wasn't much accumulation prior to 9a.

They lost maybe 0.25" on the front since they were 34-35....if they come in with anything less than 1.7", it is a joke....they were under the better returns...my guess is 1.8"

Yeah, somewhere in there sounds right.. though the may wait till like 4p to measure knowing them. ;) I had a little more than a dusting.. maybe .25" by 9a, so sounds about right.

My understanding was that we were supposed to see snow flurries today. Why do I have 4 inches of wet snow in Dale City? Why is there no topic in this forum on TODAYS snowstorm? I think this just might be an overperformer

Huh?  You're posting in the topic thread.

And congrats to you guys east, what a surprise for you guys.

Fringed out here.  1/4" before the sun peaked through the clouds and instantly melted everything.  Not a trace left within 30 minutes.

1st one is mine, plus the other 3 should give some indication that DCA should be no lower than 1.8"

I'm worried that it'll be mostly melted by the time I get home, so your measurement will probably be included in the mix when I calculate my total.

Me too.  My wife measured 1.3" at home in Clarksburg but her "measurements" leave a little something to be desired when it comes to process.

Any other Clarksburg obs would be appreciated.

Measured 1.5" downtown at 18th and F, NW.

I had 1.25" in Urbana

lol, pretty sad considering how favorable the upper-levels are. Dat sun angle.

Work is in a pretty urban area plus some leftover warmth probably. Perhaps could have called it 2" but I'll prob just go with Matt's number as my personal total.
