Maybe he should take a step back instead shooting out words like "unlikely". Detroit can't lose this winter.

DTX has failed big time this year..Almost on every event..not sure whats going on up there in that office, maybe take a trip one day? lol

What was 1880/81 at through this point? Less then 10" to go. Dan Thompson at DTX quoted as saying he doesn't think it'll surpass the record.

Its March 2nd, a few clippers or one big event and its beaten. This guy must have been pushed into an opinion, statically speaking we should have a 40% shot at the record, so the house money would say no.

Detroit averages 8.8 inches during March and April combined, wow... what a dumb quote.

Some incredible temps:

(1) Kansas City MO had a high of 5 today.  Normal high is 49.  Old record low max for March was 11 on 3/4/1978.

(2) Dodge City KS had a high of 4 today.  Normal high is 53.

(3) Cut Bank MT had a high of -13 yesterday.  Normal high is 38.

(4) Des Moines IA had a high of 2 today.  Normal high is 42.

Haven't really noticed that at all

Same.  Actually think they have done a very good job this winter.

Sure they were off a bit last night but only an 1" or so. Does anyone is SE MI really need an advisory for snow any more this winter.  If your not used to it snowing what hole have you been in the past 3 months!!

Incredible indeed. Negative 40º+ departures are pretty crazy.

Your other favorite spot Bloomingdale is now up to 150.4" on the season! :o

My sister broke the wench on the plow because they ran out of room for all the snow.   We were just out there a couple weeks ago 'before the Feb thaw" and the piles enormous and roads were walls of snow.  They were lucky to get the mail twice a week.

They can't grill right now because the deck has 5'+ of snow on it ... :lmao: .  Hopefully they got some pictures.  They're pretty sure they they lost there above ground pool.

Epic stuff there.. Amazing what a difference just 35 miles makes to go from 100 here to 150 there. On average ( normal )  you gain a inch for every mile west you go from here with the seasonal snowfall. Not this winter. sheesh Wonder what the highest total for the winter is out that way from there up into Allegan and on up to Muskegon, etc?

I noticed the new morning weather guy on FOX 2 said the same thing a few days ago, albeit we were almost 5" further away from the record than we are now. Not sure how they can be so confident about that during a season where we've gotten this much snow, and considering our biggest snowstorms of all time have happened after the current date...

I have to admit that this new winter finds new ways to impress you every day. As I was shoveling 4.4" of powder at 9 degrees this morning, Im thinking lol...this is March! It is also an excellent indicator of how a fresh snow like this transforms the unsightly dirty glacial slab of snow into instant velvetty deep winter wonderland again.

This morning it looked great out there. Very light snow falling, the snow piles are massive again, deep 12"+ snowcover everywhere. Deep, deep winter still. Looking at the calendar I would never believe this was the same month that we experienced in 2012 and there's still no end in sight for this. We could have snowcover for another 30 days.

Jan 27th was epic bad

February 5th was bad too. That was the worst morning rush of all season with a flimsy advisory...and we got 6"+ in a 5 hour period or so.

To be fair that one was really unexpected in general.
