Hey guys. It has been a while since I've been on here. Thought I'd see how much snow everybody has left. We still have a good 16 to 18 inches in most places around here. Today was the first actual day where I noticed a litttttttle bit of grass showing under the trees constantly exposed to wind and sunshine. Snowpack is thinner in those places, but like I said, well over a foot in most locations.

I see MKG still had 18" depth at 7pm.

Tomorrow nights snowstorm is coming at the perfect time. Theres still snow left of course, but wow did we lose a lot. Its actually funny to see how many bare spots there are and how deep it is in other areas. True Lake Superior April type stuff. The fading snowpack should be replenished in time to keep the snowcover streak going!

Took these pics at sunset...still a nice drift by the back gate.

43°/37° at this hour even with mostly clear skies. Since the dewpoints got this high, the snow free areas have increased in coverage from what I can see from the house.

Snow on the ground is really hard to walk through.

What a waste....  to end it ~12 hours before it gets replenished.  Not that it will last too much longer even after this system, but would have at least got another 7-10 days on it.

Well if the currently forecast of 1-3" is correct it would probably be gone by noon Thursday! lol

The snow out there right now is so ugly. Nothing true white about it.

Just noticed after near 50° Friday, mild air re-surges on Tuesday again.

47° for a high today. Forecast was only 40°.

Once I get home I can confirm if the snow cover streak is over, which I think it is.

Yep, the streak is over. 40% of the yard is covered about. 93 days or 13.2 weeks is really impressive. Never seen that before.

Some pictures within 5 miles of here.

One of the barest fields I passed by.

Little more typical view of most agricultural lands.

View of the west side of my yard that has the biggest bare area.

Snowiest corner of my yard is actually in the open. Go figure...

Down to about 4-5" snow depth 8-9" lost since yesterday.

DTW soared to 53F today, the first 50F temp since Dec 5th. We lost a lot more snow, and in fact, heavily traveled roads in flat areas are completely free of snow other than the big dirty piles. Residential areas are still primarily snowcovered, but even there numerous bare spots have appeared. Calling snow depth an avg of 5"...many higher spots, but the aforementioned bare areas as well. Also...the snow is solid snocone, which should freeze nicely. Any bare spots that have developed are solid mush as the water is not really soaking into the grass much.

Took these just before dark. the slushy, sludgy calm before the storm!

Pics can obviously be deceiving. That one field pic looks completely snowless, but if I had just seen that last pic you posted I would definitely still call it a full snowcover (judging by the background across the street). Some N-S facing streets here have tons of bare patches on the "sunny side" and full, deep snowcover on the "shady side".

And as long as you pick up snow tonight, your streak will technically hold, if the depth was 1"+ at 8am this morning and is 1"+ tomorrow morning. At least thats how it would work at an official climate site :)

Right now it doesn't look like it will be replenished. The razor edge of this storm looks to be about 20 miles south of here! The neighbor across the streets definitely has more snow on their yard. I could take pictures all day long... but most yards are under that 50% coverage threshold.

It's really broken up now.

LOL. What the he** are these tv mets thinking posting the frickin' NAM snowfall map? The only people who actually believed it were the MI weenies.

I love it when the point does this. It usually happens when the models are out to lunch, as is the case mid-week next week.

"Wednesday A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50."

With the fresh snowpack and clear skies, Detroit does have a somewhat legit shot of falling below zero tonight IF the winds calm down enough.

At 14 now and I just went clear, dew point is 3 currently and we still have a 7kt wind. I do think there is a chance but it will be close.
