LOT going with 50's-60's area wide on Monday...

MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY...
UPPER RIDGE CURRENTLY IN PLACE ACROSS THE WESTERN COAST WILL
TRANSLATE EAST AND BY EARLY NEXT WEEK WILL MOVE ACROSS THE PLAINS. A
WAVE DIGGING DOWN THE EASTERN PERIPHERY OF THE RIDGE INTO THE
NORTHERN LAKES REGION WILL RESULT IN A DEEPENING SURFACE LOW PROGGED
TO MOVE ACROSS LAKE MICHIGAN ON SUNDAY. A DECENT PUSH OF WARM AIR
AHEAD OF THIS SYSTEM WILL OCCUR IN THE MIDWEST WHICH WILL PUSH H85
TEMPS INTO THE 11C TO 13C RANGE MONDAY AFTERNOON. FOR COMPARISON...
H85 TEMPS TODAY ARE ONLY AROUND 5C WITH TEMPS CLIMBING WELL INTO THE
40S. LOCAL UPPER AIR CLIMATOLOGY STUDY SHOWS MEDIAN TEMPERATURES IN
THE MID 60S FOR CHICAGO WHEN H85 TEMPS CLIMB ABOVE AROUND 9C.
DESPITE ANY LINGERING SNOWPACK...EXPECT TO EAT AWAY AND PERHAPS
MELT A GOOD PORTION OF IT AS DEWPOINTS PUSH ABOVE THE FREEZING MARK
MONDAY AFTERNOON. THERE IS SOME UNCERTAINTY ON HOW MUCH OF AN IMPACT
THE SNOWFALL WILL HAVE...BUT WITH TEMPS EASILY PUSHING MID 40S
TODAY..SUSPECT WE MAY BE LOW IF ANYTHING FOR HIGHS ON MONDAY.
BLENDED HEAVILY TOWARDS THE ECBC WHICH OFTEN VERIFIES WELL UNDER A
THERMAL RIDGE...AND DISMISSED THE GFS AND NAM WHICH ARE TOO HEAVILY
INFLUENCED BY THE SNOW ON THE GROUND. THIS WILL RESULT IN WIDESPREAD
50S ACROSS THE CWA...EVEN A FEW 60S SOUTH OF I-80.

Legit seen some girls walking around in crop tops and jeans today. Never heard so many people excited for 40 degree weather on TV and radio.

I spent the afternoon in shorts and a t-shirt out redistributing some of the snow from the immense row of 5 feet piles along the sidewalk in case we get another snow storm, they had become so tall and solid that whenever I shovel more snow on top of them it just rolls down onto the sidewalk again.

High/Low at DTW today 44F/10F, quite a spread. Lots of puddles but Id say we only lost about 1-1.5" in depth. Still over a foot on the ground on average. Obviously the higher traffic areas have lots of big puddles, dirty snowbanks, and some grass patches...but away from that, the snow actually isnt even too dirty looking. Still looks pretty fresh despite temps in the 40s. Took my little cousin sledding today. It felt SO warm lol, perfect sledding conditions. The blue sky was something else.

AC still buried

Snow quickly heading to glacier status. I am 6'5", 280lbs, and was walking across 2 foot deep drifts with no problems.

280lbs myself and I have a drift along the north-west fence line where I can stand on top of the drift and my feet are level with the top of the fence posts.

I must admit the 51 temp yesterday felt like 71 with the sunshine. Screw any March snow storm and let's bring on spring.

Yep mid-40s here and everyone was talking like it was 60s out!!!  No jackets or hats...  As I like to say temperature feeling (warm or cold) is only a perception based on what you are used to!!!

Had 0.12" of rain this morning then a trace of snow. Was hoping it would have been snow as the models appeared to show. Seems to be snowing nicely in monroe. Our foot snowpack is icy once again.

The fact that there was virtually no melting of the snow with the rain goes to show how rock solid it is. laugh.png

Of course, after yesterday, the fresh snow that was on top of the snice more or less melted. So now we're back to the dirty snowpack.

I think it was more so the two days of full sunshine we had that made everyone happier. I even opened the sun roof in my car coming home yesterday.

It's been an awfully cloudy winter, even by Detroit's standards in the lake effect stratus belt.

That was probably the sunniest February I have ever witnessed.

I'm not sure what the averages are (I had the link, but I have to find it again), but Detroit had 14 days that were Partly Cloudy (at DTW), and no clear days in February. Out of the 14 cloudy days, most of them had 60-70% cloud cover.

Maybe in Howell or Lake Orion (and it's possible given the nature of lake effect stratus), it was sunnier.

So yes, Detroit averages 5 clear days, 7 partly cloudy days and 17 cloudy days in February

So if anything, this February was cloudier than normal.

depth wise we are pretty much exactly where we were before last Saturday's snowstorm, but the snow is a bit whiter at least so a lot of it was probably compression. Water wise obviously the lower spots on the most busy roads had quite a bit of melting, with plenty of bare spots showing up (but snowbanks more than make up for water content)....but in resisential areas the snowpack is not losing a crazy amount of water on these mild days. Some sublimation for sir but its an absolute glacier.
