March 2014 General Discussion

Never even heard of that.  But I'm wondering how it's any different from a typical lake breeze.

I'd have to imagine the land/ice interaction is probably similar to the land/water interaction, still the same principle in play here.

JB, for the past two days has been mentioning similarities, and showing maps to back up his point, to the set-up in March 1993. He said in his video that he's not calling for a storm of the magnitude of the Superstorm, simply that the dynamics which led to a Big Dog event that month will exist next week. In other words, he says someone is going to get a big storm next week.

I wasn't talking about the storm...

I just decided that I'm giving this winter an A+. Was going to give it an A, but after seeing several snow lovers on here post about being sick of winter, it can't be anything other than an A+.

obvious A+ here as well...this winter delivered everything a winter weather lover could want.

Highest of the season and probably the highest it will get this year.

Yeah no doubt. Offshore winds tomorrow and then on Sunday and Monday will do a number on the coverage area.

Great pics DLL!

But I thought you said you'd never walk on the river again?

This is the "lake"...its the pool behind the dam at Dresbach, MN...the river channel would be near the MN bluffs...it would take me an hour+ probably to walk to it...that is where things would get iffy.   Where i was walking there is probably 2 feet of ice....and almost no current (there is a spillway---small dam like structure--that you would have to watch out for)....

Its probably been colder in N Alaska then here.

Yup...lakes probably done... now the big ? will be when does the ice disappear from L Superior... mid June?

Just a one day glancing cold shot next week here and it looks to head right back above freezing.
