michsnowfreak
Had some on again, off again, snow squalls here for the first 2 hours of my shift, things are much calmer now though. Mostly lighter snow showers here, just a T...but 0.3" fluff at DTW. The 84-inch threshold cracked (84.1"). Keep on going to 93.7"!
michsnowfreak
The snow removal/snow melting process has begun at Comerica Park. Team officials insist that despite the brutal winter, the field will be ready for Opening Day, which is in just 25 days! http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20140305/SPORTS0104/303050113/Despite-brutal-winter-Tigers-insist-New-field-will-ready-Opening-Day-
daddylonglegs
How wide of a crossing is the river by you? Oh....it varies..but say at the interstate crossing (I90) where i walked, probably 200 yards across?? That is only a guess...but somewhere in that area. The thing is that there is a lot of current, especially close to the lock and dams, plus you throw in all the wing dams (that force the water to the center of the channel, keeping it deep) and it doesn't stay frozen very long. I'd imagine we'll start seeing open water early next week.

Chicago WX
-17.3º at LAF through the first five days of March. Since December 1 or in the past 95 days...70 of them have had a negative daily departure, with 45 of them in the negative double digits.
cyclone77
Got down to 5 above here. Good chance it's our last single digit of the season. Forecast for next 7 days has several 40 degree days. I have a feeling that by next week as we lose most of this snow cover that we'll see a few 50s. Happens every year as soon as the snow cover thins way down, or melts completely in March temps over-perform the forecast.
Geos
Low of 15° here. Another bright and sunny day. Day 88 of continuous snow cover. Two years ago today, the high was 66°.
snowstormcanuck
4-5" of almost completely unexpected snow overnight back home. If I was still in Toronto I don't have to tell you how great a feeling it would have been to look out my window first thing in the morning and see that. Whitelakeroy
Interesting night temperature wise. I was driving home about 8PM (kid activities) most places were 10-12F but as I got within 2 miles from home it was 5F. Then about 10:00PM we went subzero. Around mid-night a few clouds moved over and temps went above zero only to go back below zero later on after the few clouds were gone. In the end I got 2 more subzero temps days IMBY while I noticed most surrounding areas didn't. Season total subzero IMBY is now 30. Looking at the models I think we are likely done with that until next winter (but there is always a chance)!!

daddylonglegs
Today starts the "warm up"... should hit freezing today and then rise to 43F by Monday. Dropped to 2F overnight, but it looks like that happened between obs... back to 8F with clouds.
Chicago WX
12z GFS just a little bit different, compared to its 0z run, for the system next Tuesday/Wednesday. Nice 3-5" from northern IL to southern MI and northern OH.
