C+...maybe lower but the fact that I have not seen my grass since before Thanksgiving makes up for the torches and 5 rainstorms between Dec 20th and the end of the third week in January.  That's a key portion of the winter and January was a complete and utter punt up here, despite what others were trying to tell us at the time, haha.

I'm one of those people though that look at grades as C+ being average...equal number of lower grades possible and equal number of higher grades possible.  I was never a fan of those teachers who would give everyone an A or a B if they just completed the assignment...an even bell curve should have C+ as the average grade if you want to compare accurately.  Same with grading winter...you have a bell curve and the outstanding ones you want to repeat get As and Bs, and the ones below normal should be C's and D's.  F is a 1 in 100 year worst winter and A+ is like 2000-2001 historical wire-to-wire stuff.  Given that framework, this winter is "meh" and right around the average, as cold compensates for the slightly lacking snowfall, and persistent snowpack compensates for the utter punt of January and the multiple thaw events.

Edit... I just realized that November was MET fall...so this MET winter should be even lower... say D+.  November was snowier than December and January at the ski area.  Remove November, and really the only memorable part of this winter was the first half of February.

There is nothing wrong with the title...the idea was thrown around about MET Spring signaling the end of winter when as Oceanst pointed out..many areas have the same amount of snow in March as December. MET winter grade could easily be different as compared to the season of winter for some.

The op said winter was over then made this poll, catch up.

That does not mean winter wx is over, of course March can rock too. April can have surprises.  Like HubbDave said, perhaps in June when your snowfall fetish is extinguished, we can create another thread accounting for YTD.

Correct...it could be quite different in fact.

lol @ folks hanging onto winter and "cold".

Five days until Spring.

Disappointing winter, but they can't all be epic. After this initial colder stretch, really looks like a more zonal and moderate pattern. Maybe a couple crappy snow chances, but by-in-large it's "ovah".

Meh.. We have a couple like him in our sub forum. For many this winter has rocked so far and it is far from being over by the looks of it. Warm/severe wx weenies are the worst come Feb and March. Same thing every year. Start complaining about snow/cold weenies, how this or that shows warmth and snow/cold weenies are in denial etc etc etc..

You ask the NNE folks how much March is spring, yet you asked them to grade. Met winter is far from climo winter especially for you North.

Just start another thread on May 1st about the "snow season" grade...lol.  Its a poll of Dec/Jan/Feb weather... its not doing a disservice or anything, it is what it is.  People start polls all the time in mid-winter asking for ratings on how the first half of the winter is.  This isn't any different...its just a chunk of the heart of winter.  Not grading the entire winter.

We can just make another poll at the end of April

Stop cryin' and vote

+1 haha.

And can you image how obnoxious the snow/cold lovers sound to those warm/severe wx fans?  lol...always looking for cold and snow 12 months of the year.  Jumping on every long range model run that has the 0C H85 line dipping into the U.S. in August.  God that must get annoying.

Just playing devil's advocate...
