I strongly suspect most of them don't have to clean up the mess and/or don't own anything that ice can harm.

Some of the handwringing is silly. If you're a big winter fan you gotta take what you're given

Agreed. Would it be any different than a storm chaser whining because baseball sized hail ruined his car? Maybe that's an extreme analogy, but the point is similar.....

Seriously. I've been without power for a while...and I'd happily do it again if there was ever a threat for a legit ice storm.

I definitely understand why one wouldn't want ice. Losing power isn't ideal, but lets not act like people rooting for ice are insane or rooting for the end of the world. Also you can argue that big Ice storms cause major problems, but not sure how one can say they don't create some amazing/beautiful scenery/photos.

I would love LC to wish an inch of ice on me. ;)

Baseballs/Softballs that hit your vehicle anywhere besides your windshield are just badges of honor. It's ok to get a rouge baseball or two but getting cored or core punching is less than ideal (unless you have to get away) (see: El Reno 2013)

I grew up in western Canada, and I'm used to having snow on the ground and on many of the roads from late October to early April.  The only month I've never seen snow fall is July.  I've been living in DC/Alexandria for over a decade.

I have no problems with snow.  I respect ice.

August snow is impressive even for Western Canada. Wow.

Ian's call is a big fat bag of boom

I feel pretty good.. my only long range storn call of the year might be successful. Of course it could be totally by accident but whatever.

They are for planning purposes... They are updated and serve as a range of possibilities

I would expect the priority for treating The Hill of Doom to change depending on expected snow fall and schools' reactions to it.  Is school on time? Two hours late?  Closed Today?  Maybe tomorrow too?

If the schoolbus route needs to run during an event, people want to have The Hill of Doom treated first.  If not, then it becomes as it was before, a test of silly drivers and their belief in four-wheel drive.

Living in Arlington I have to know. What hill are you referring to?

if 4 wheel drive vehicles are driven intelligently and within their capabilities, their great. They are not a fix for everything.

There has to be a fly in the ointment. I am almost ready to start NAM bashing but I won't. It is silly just because it doesn't show you what you want. It may be on to something or not. It does worry me. I hope we can hold today with all the big boys on our side. Weenie thoughts.

No worries, MG, the panickers over the 6z NAM have your back.

Lolz at the nam, even I'm tossing it. It's fine, I'm gonna get snow, I'll accept it, try to enjoy it and then hope that's it. I have been trying to keep my personal feelings towards it out of the disc thread, as I know many want more snow. Which is fine, I don't wanna be a downer and ruin that for others.

I'm just over it at this point, perhaps I'm not a big snow weenie like I thought :)
