CT Rain
18z GEFS members were all quite impressive. Seems like it has to do with how/when/if shortwaves over the northern Rockies phase prior to our longitude.

CoastalWx
The euro still argued for an inch or so. I don't see anything wrong with that...and it's also the NAM.
CT Rain
Toss the nam, im waitin for 0z gfs It is the NAM... BUT it was our most bullish/leading the way model on this. Don't like to see it go poof after starting the charge.

Mr. Windcredible!
Really? There are only a few towns left using sand (Middletown uses salt/sand mix). Almost all of them now use salt exclusively with no sand. Still a lot of sand on the shoreline. In fact...so much so that I think people get the wrong idea about the usefulness of sand. My wife was at the gym a couple weeks ago and there was a big apology/notice on the door that cautioned people to be careful because they had run out of sand and only had salt available for the parking lot and it was likely to be icy. Growing up in PA where they used salt exclusively...I've never understood the whole sand/salt mix.
cja1987
Gotta chime in on the salt talk. Last night driving home from Plymouth NH the rain had stopped and the roads were all drying out. Temps were above freezing. I thought finally we would have several days without all the salt on the roads but driving home the state salt trucks were everywhere applying salt to the dry main roads. What a waste of money and environment. Why do they salt dry roads after a storm???? Considering last night eventually ended up being a nightmare on some NH roads, particularly in southern NH, Id say they made the right decision. Its simple, it had rained and there was some runnoff/drain blockage from melting snow. Plenty of standing water to freeze fast. It does not take much moisture to cause black ice and the roads were not dry last even if you thought they looked it. Even down here south of Boston, I was hearing reports on the scanner as early as midnight of people sliding clear through intersections and needing salt NOW. This morning, it was clear that many of the major intersections had the crap salted out of them, the ones that did not were very slippery in any spot where water builds up. Last night NHDOT was tweeting about all resources available being out but still not able to treat roads fast enough, numerous accidents. They do these things for a reason not to waste money or destroy the environment (spare me on that one please).

Almost all of them now use salt exclusively with no sand. There's talk of Middletown switching over to all salt or a treated salt like cromwell uses but it's a hard sell to some of the "old dogs" and the current lack of salt supply isnt really helping change opinions. Damage In Tolland
Not exactly what I expcted to wake up to..but it seems like there's enough to still generate 1-2 inches tonight. Better than nothing.
Damage In Tolland
Sounds the Euro ens still a decent hit for Wed with it just Se of BM. I'd guess this ends up a 3-6 inch event for most places in SNE

powderfreak
Regardless, it looks very active over the next two weeks. I was thinking week two may be active... I guess it is active in that there's a fast flow with short-waves, but most of them seem pretty damp and flat. My take was a fairly boring week (but at least the cold looks modified, nothing overly ridiculous like the -30C type temps we were seeing on progs) with a better chance at something semi-interesting around March 1-2. Damage In Tolland
You think we can manage an inch or 2 tonight? I won't be shocked if it comes back somewhat on 12z
CoastalWx
You think we can manage an inch or 2 tonight? I won't be shocked if it comes back somewhat on 12z I would keep expectations low to be honest. I have no idea what the 18z runs smoked. There may be a narrow weenie band in this like always..but I woudln't expect much.
dendrite
Euro had 0.10 due W-E from DDH-EEN-ASH and 0.25 was near the S Coast. Ens not much different.
Damage In Tolland
So between .10-.25 from north to south. If that's all snow can squeak out 1-

CoastalWx
That's high ratio fluff too. Would be nice to get that further NW. Still 0.25 would be an advisory easily if those amounts were to happen. I'm just not sold on this storm yet.
