Polar Vortex 2014
And as it turns out, it wasn't warmth and rain we had to worry about... Maybe not in Tamaqua. But it's raining here in SW PA.
Voyager
Maybe not in Tamaqua. But it's raining here in SW PA. I just notice that on the radar. Wow. DC is ripping snow and you are getting rain. This is the most unbelievable winter I've ever seen...
jwilson
Yep, snow is over here. Looks like some heavier returns to move in, but at this point it is 38F and I don't think we'll cool down to return to snow. Dry slotted + rain. A double whammy (at least for some of us). It hasn't been the worst winter in history, but just about everything that could go wrong this year has to prevent any bigger storm in this area. I think I've had just enough disappointment for a year, ready to return to the golf course.

CoraopolisWx
That rediculous little bubble of rain east of 79 and south of 376, that some of the models were showing actually verified. Oh well. Lol

CoraopolisWx
Mabey because most everything last winter was cold and supressed, I never really noticed the odd microclimate that covers the SE quadrant of the metro. Its kinda funny how I moved from one microclimate to another. To be fair however, this area is more of a muted microclimate compared to Coraopolis. CoraopolisWx
Well, looks like another grinder of a storm. It's appropriate, being that this winter has been a grind from the start. I will say, no matter what happens here in Pgh, I'm rooting for Jwilson to get a big storm. As much as he's been screwed this winter, I wonder if he can still sit down. CoraopolisWx
At least the ground got a good rinsing from all the rain. Plus all of that stubborn ice melted away on my steps.

CoraopolisWx
How the hell is Louisville Kentucky gonna see more snow than we have in 5 years. Its not fair.Twice. Lol
tsteel
Lol I don't think there's much to complain about this month so far... I've had 11" of snow in 5 days plus record cold as well. But the "pattern" is supposed to break this coming week.

CoraopolisWx
DST starts too early. The middle of April would be less extreme of a change in the morning.

psunate1977
Then why do they even do it? It's dumb, I agree, but doing it now or April isn't going to change anything really. We are in the area of the season where it is what it is. Days get longer and it gets warmer out. I for one wont complain about being able to being outside until 7:30 after basically being inside with cold temps and darkness around 5-530 since December. But for each is his own. Today is wonderful out. Heat is off, windows are open, and birds are chirping.
CoraopolisWx
does it really matter?I personally notice a difference the first day of work on Monday. The earlier DST start date, causes me to wake up in the dark, as opposed to daybreak. Of course everybody's schedule is different, I was just commenting on my routine.
psunate1977
Yeah the drive in sucks no doubt, but in a few weeks it should even out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, I think it was fine before the recent change to increase the dst time. It starts too soon and ends too late for my liking. I question energy savings, sure there is one hour in the evening that people don't have lights on, but its just transferred to the morning when people are getting ready for work. I notice the difference in the morning too. It was getting light just as I left for work prior to the change, now its still dark when I get to work. it will even out in a couple more weeks, but why not leave it alone. CoraopolisWx
As long as it stays warm enough to keep the heat off, I'll be happy. Not having a gas bill will be nice. $$$
CoraopolisWx
It was kinda funny thinking to myself how refreshing the the air was this afternoon, after a week of damp humid conditions, with it only being early April. Yesterday and this morning felt more like June.
CoraopolisWx
Despite the light pollution, quite a few stars are visible tonight. Picked up orions belt in the wsw sky. Plus a brighter star in the wnw sky. Could be a planet.
CoraopolisWx
A part of me won't mind breaking out the hoodies and pullovers again. But then another part of me just wants to get on with the warm weather, and deal with it, until we get back to fall again.
