Maybe we get lucky?   High chance of nothing, with a heavy side of meh

Nah, I know not really a chance east of BR for much at all... but if something looks intriguing out in NW VA/W MD later today... I may head out there if there is a decent storm/couplet -- and yes, I know it will be EF0 stuff if there is a TOR at all.

Ian, make it storm please

Decent pocket of cape just east of the mtns but tapers fast. Maybe they'll cool pool their way here tho hi res aren't too exciting into DC at least.

At the very least it's something to track in the general area. Probably won't mean much for DC metro area but given how boring we have been lately I'll take it.

Supercell near front royal has held on quite a while and still is but it's got a sharp ingredient gradient on its way east so I'm guessing it mehs out.  Some rumbles maybe still?

..VA...MD...PA    A WEAK SHORTWAVE TROUGH CONTINUES TO RAPIDLY PROGRESS EWD ACROSS NY  AND PA WITH VEERING WINDS WITH HEIGHT AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT AND  PRE-FRONTAL OUTFLOWS. THE MOST ROBUST ACTIVITY AS OF LATE HAS BEEN  ACROSS NRN VA INTO CNTRL MD NEAR THE INSTABILITY AXIS WITH  INDICATIONS OF MARGINAL HAIL AND SOME MIDLEVEL CYCLONIC SHEAR AT  TIMES. TRENDS ARE EXPECTED TO BE DOWNWARD OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS  DUE TO MAINLY BOUNDARY LAYER COOLING COUPLED WITH THE WEAK LAPSE  RATES ALOFT. UNTIL THEN...ISOLATED SEVERE WIND...HAIL...OR A BRIEF  TORNADO COULD OCCUR.
