TWCCraig
William - How much on the ground there in Port Jeff.? Centerport only had 13" as of 8AM this morning: Have about 13" here on the south shore, that map doesn't seem 100% accurate.
jm1220
Doesnt seem that accurate. I'm a few miles NW of Hempstead and i have between 12 and 15" on the ground. There was about 10" or so in most places in Long Beach on the very south shore as of early this morning. I would imagine we added some to it with the snow today (I'm not there now). Many places that had more snow than we did settled the snow down so that it's hard to really tell much difference now (I drove east to Patchogue yesterday and if anything it looks like there's less snow out there despite them having less mixing with the storm last week). jconsor
It's not often that any part of LI sees >20" snow depth without at least one blockbuster storm of at least 15". Quite impressive! NJwinter23
For sure most notably feb 5-6 10. So their ten year average is sick. Long term it's gotta be the least snowy place within 40 miles of NYC Light snow here now There have been several storms, more notably since march 09 that have targeted Monmouth county with local bullseyes. Some have made sense, like re-developing miller B's that favor eastern areas and Monmouth does better than people to the west, many other times just blind luck (ie Saturday's event, Novy 7th 2012)... There are major differences from a place like coastal Belmar/Neptune from a Freehold-Colts Neck which behaves more like Middlesex county (the former more like Ocean County)

JetsPens87
To be certain. .. The Southern nj areas made out better than I had thought they would. This became apparent when sr models were keying the heavy band over them with colder sfc temps than anticipated especially with precip arriving earlier. All in all though I think things went well. Juliancolton
Miniscule accumulations here (a couple tenths of an inch), but I had some moderate snow and pretty good snow growth for a few moments. Winds are rather gusty creating a nice wintry scene. If you sat under this band/batch for an hour, you would probably pick up an inch.

jm1220
New England getting smoked by this storm (that was our 4-6" in 5 hours) It might have been okay inland, but the coast and maybe even NYC would have just gotten more rain. I'd rather it have been more minor and end just as the warm air arrived.

Hard for the inland folks to understand the se wind snow eater. That's what crushed the immediate south shore of central Suffolk. It was not nearly as bad here
