Mallow
Ya, can confirm. Steady freezing rain, not heavy, but about the right intensity to put a glaze on... well, everything. The bit of snow and sleet we started with helped get everything set up for a nice glaze. Only a few drips running off cars, most of it is staying. Went from all sleet to mixing with freezing rain yet now there's also snow mixed in again. OMG, there's a couple of very serious accidents with a lot of injuries in Clearfield County. Mallow
Walker building temperatures have warmed up significantly, up to almost 30F. Lots more dripping coming off my building, but the ice is still accumulating on everything I checked out. Maybe well-traveled roads are just wet right now? But I'm not sure about that. Mallow
Is the Walker Building therm on the roof? Yep. And the temperature has been pretty steady on the roof at around 29-30F the past 10-15 minutes, so...

kerplunk
At 28º here. Surprisingly minor ice accrection here considering how long it's been raining at these temps. Good news is the sharp cutoff is only about 25 miles to the west. Apparently a pileup at marker 180 involving placarded vehicles. Not sure about that since only caught the tail end of the message. skiier04
Just insane PSU didn't at least delay this morning. I guess it's going to take a student dying on their commute to change things.
sauss06
my wife's school just closed... some other locals are closing... temp up to 31 at the house Yeah, EP just closed. That makes 18 days they have delayed or canceled. Roads must be bad, i just keep hearing wreck after wreck dispatched.
PennMan
Just insane PSU didn't at least delay this morning. I guess it's going to take a student dying on their commute to change things. Totally irresponsible. Roads are terrible, multiple accidents, etc. A delay would have been fine, by 10AM things should be mostly cleared off. kerplunk
Looks like it will be over in 15 minutes or less here. That back end is moving right along. It's 29.3º here so the entire event will probably have happened sub-freezing.
jm1220
The hills must be incredibly slippery right now-I know how bad North Atherton can get north of campus in events like these, and I'm sure there have been accidents there. PSU should have delayed.

Mallow
Just went outside. The radiation is doing its magic. Dark surfaces are beginning to melt from underneath. Regardless, the freezing rain is almost over. In fact, I swear I saw blue sky to the northwest.
kerplunk
It's all done here. Temp is 30.4º. I wouldn't doubt you're seeing blue skies to the West. This is one of the sharpest cutoffs I've ever seen for a winter non-squall event.

canderson
It's a little icy out but nothing too crazy, I'm honestly surprised at the traffic turmoil this morning around here. There is a glaze on untreated surfaces but it's not solid necessarily. I see the reason for delaying schools but closing entirely? Ehhhh.
JamieOber
Yep. And the temperature has been pretty steady on the roof at around 29-30F the past 10-15 minutes, so... I thought so. That explains why it was so off last year when we had this insane temp inversion, I think it was March. It was in the 50s but down where people actually exist it was around 40. That stuff fascinates the hell out of me.
