Oh..haha. I just made it up....it's these little lows that inject a plume of moist Atlantic air into them. These lows have a nice pocket of cold air aloft so it becomes one of these features that drop heavy precip rates for a time because of instability.

Is it a mini CCB? Tip won't approve of your non-textbook term. Forky will have a conniption

Big omega smack dab in the max SGZ. Some of these runs are borderline warning criteria even up here. The NAM would be pushing double digits, but we'll toss the excessive QPF. Regardless, it looks like a quick burst of fun.

 

The 06z HiresNAM was comical for Southern ME.  Looked like around 12" there.
