It looks like a strangely early deform band cutting through the heart of NJ SW/NE with its nose nosing into Queens ( where only light flurries r falling at my location)

Good sign for NYC/suburbs and east of there.  That should hold together and pivot as the SLP deepens.  Should be some decent precip for a few hours this afternoon.

You answered my question before I even asked.  Was wondering whether what we are saying now with the banding is a sign of things to come.

Ughh RAIN in Howell for the last hour with an occasional snow flake, pellet mixed in. Snowed fo about 15 minutres earlier. It's painful.. per OBS it looks like it's all snow less than 10 mnutes north of me

Not to worry. Soundings show a shallow warm layer that should evaporatively cool with heavier precip.
