LOL looks like I will be buying more panty hose next week.

JC-CT
Hey man I missed this but "ski sheep" is good peeps, very knowledgeable and a fair cat, bad diss here. His FB weather page is really good too, just saying that was uncalled for. By the way he is still a member in good standing here.Ski Sheep stopped posting because he got 5ppd, and there was certainly no public outcry against it. Nobody even said goodbye after his "I'm leaving" speech. His post wasn't even acknowledged. Anyway, I'm sorry if that came off as offensive towards ski sheep, not saying he's a bad dude at all, actually just the opposite, he never had anything negative to say about anybody. However, I didn't drop his name just to put him down...he is a really good example of someone who posted a LOT of imby posts in the model threads without much of anything else to add. Clinch Leatherwood
I am posting my reply to a post made in the obs thread, because it is really banter: I get the sense you would rather have this board closed to new membership. The "good ol' boys club" and no one else allowed. Like your comment in the banter thread last night that I shouldn't have quoted a post you made in response to someone else because you were "having a conversation." It's a FORUM. And there were lots and lots of posters and posts yesterday and Friday discussing an E trend and the possibility of this being mundane outside of SE Mass, like you said above (and also from non mets too, including myself several times - I'll pull those posts for you if you want, since you blatently accused me last night of holding my opinion solely due to disappointment in my own backyard snow). But only one person managed to piss off multiple people participating and reading the thread - you. It's because of posts like this: And this: And this: So for some reason, the first thing you post about a new model run that in your words is excellent for snow on your own backyard is how "ugly" it is. But that's because you are 100% analysis, no emotions just facts. The "pure" weather enthusiast. No IMBY posts from you, no "weenie" snow-loving posts. You are above all that... IMHO, there was nothing wrong with the expectation that this would trend east. Obviously, in hindsight it worked out. To that same token, there was nothing wrong in thinking a west trend would continue, from a discussion standpoint. It happened to be incorrect in hindsight. There's also nothing wrong with enjoying a snowstorm, having a "jackpot fetish" or anything of the like. Most if not all on this board are here because they get a thrill from the extreme events. Most if not all mets became mets for that very reason, it's what drives the excitement and the passion behind weather. I went back and reread a lot of the model thread. The only real difference between the other posters calling for the E trend and you, is that you lack the social skills to post as much as you do without getting under people's skin. But hey, I'm just some poster who you don't know the location of, wasn't part of the predecessor board in 1995, and certainly am not a member of the "core" group here. My opinion is worth far less than yours, right? JC show up at the next get together, we can have a beer and discuss the weather. I'll make an absolute promise to everyone here, I'll go to the next one if they get you to go too. Maybe it'll do everyone good to really put the time in a social setting and maybe that's worth a trip to Worcester or wherever. The decision to no longer post here is just a choice it's not something that I enjoy for a lot of different reasons. The forum has changed and I've not changed with it. You don't have to agree with the reasons, but the enjoyment is mostly gone. The things I enjoyed doing aren't what forms the core of this forum now, it's grown far beyond that and that is totally fine as it is the natural progression of things. After yesterday I realized it's been a lot of fun but times have changed and I haven't changed with them. The forum can continue in whatever direction it wants, but after a lot of years and mostly a lot of fun it's time. Enjoy the rest of your winter and this forum and I really do hope to see you at one of the get togethers. There's a ton of great people here and many of the people we/I knew as kids 20 years ago are now the pros that a lot of us look to for guidance. It's been a great experience through and through, but I'm out. It's just a personal choice, although I owe you zero explanation I hope you can appreciate that. Enjoy the snow tomorrow and the rest of the winter.
TalcottWx
Check out this shot in Southie looking east se to the harbor islands. The island w/o the trees is landfill from the Big Dig. "When the Central Artery/Third Harbor Tunnel Project, or the Big Dig, began work in Boston in 1992, some of the project's excavated dirt and clay was used to resurface the island. The island was covered and built up by dirt, capped with two feet of clay, and covered with two to five feet of topsoil. Thousands of trees were planted, and paths, buildings, and a dock were built. Spectacle Island opened to the public in June 2006 for use as a recreational area with hiking trails, a beach, a visitors' center with cafe, and a marina with 38 boat slips for visitors." Same to you, no hard feelings, I mean it. When they do a get together at some point, let's have a drink. It's just time, like you said, kids...wife, family and friends. The great thing about these things is there's always people coming in behind us, hoping to check back in during the years ahead and read someone else carrying the Debbie flag. Enjoy the rest of the winter. See..my last post was upbeat and positive. Over and out.

Honestly I love to leave them alone and let them grow in all their glory....I made it through Jan 2011 unscathed and had twice that depth on my roof.....no problems....knock on wood....I check constantly for water in the walls but nothing....unclear whether I have that layer Ginxy was talking about....roof has been solid for 9 yrs since we bought the house but admittedly I'm a west coast guy where some of this winter stuff still seems new to me....the weenie in me just wants to let them grow.... CT Rain
Yeah I'm torn.... Lol.... I have them on my house too. Never had issues in the past (and never had icicles like this) so it must be a combo of the type of snow and temperatures that are favorable for ice damming.
