HKY18
The race sucks until 25 to go, too. Restrictor plate races FTL. It's a glorified single-file parade for the first ~175 laps. And rain... I race short track stuff here in NC, it's sucks to watch the cup series because they're so aero dependent. The only good races of the year are martinsville and bristol. Without a doubt local short track racing is more entertaining.

mackerel_sky
With more storms firing West and SW , they are gonna have a hard time getting this race in. How long will they wait before they call it?
HKY18
I sort of doubt they even realize they are under a tornado warning. The media may not, but I guarantee the series and track officials are well aware. Just as any other outdoor sports event.

metalicwx366
You would think it's a June afternoon with the way those storms are popping up. Then you have us up here with lame light rain while they are getting 1-2 an hour rainfall rates.

mackerel_sky
Just read Roberts thoughts from today. There are a lot of " ifs" and coulds in there. But says the models are showing the cold not as cold and we have to hope a system can strengthen enough to pull the cold air down for the system coming a day or two behind. I am not encouraged by his write up today. Jmo
superjames1992
Radar is backbuilding and more returns are popping up in central FL and moving to the east (looks like the heaviest returns might miss Daytona Beach to the south, but we'll see). Bah. I'm no thunderstorm expert, though, so we'll see what happens. FL popcorn is unpredictable. I hope those new jet driers work well.
IsentropicLift
New tornado warning southwest of Daytona but that cell should be a close miss.
Hvward
Yeah track is just north of warned area but a whole lot of rain has fallen. Looks like they have added a new lake to the infield in front of the grandstands!
Hvward
The titan track dryers were introduced last year.. they are only at Daytona and Talladega. I guess it was either this or not let Juan Pablo race at Daytona. He seems to find jet dryers easier then checkered flags.

TWC has no highs for us in the 40s on the ten day and only two nights below freezing (WYFF identical). We might see one more cool spell outside the mtns (upstate), but i think winter is done for us. This PV 3 looks to bring us down to only a hair below norms, a far cry from the intense cold we were hearing about. This week has been insanely warm for Feb and it is depressing me. GSP now above average for month on temps; boooo! BRING BACK THE ICEAGE
jburns
First daffodils blooming in my backyard. Nice day today. Fired up the John Deere, hooked the cart onto it and cleaned up all the winter debris in my yard. More snow or not, the time for some nice days among the cold is upon us. I plan on enjoying them. Of course I'm still looking for an opportunity to chase.

Brick Tamland
Awesome weather today. Spent time outside cleaning up debris from the storms Friday. I am wanting spring more and more. If we don't get a snow more than 6 inches then 8 don't want anymore winter weather. Bring on the sun and temps in the 70s. And some severe weather to follow every now and then.
