leemhoc Posted February 14, 2014 Share Posted February 14, 2014 h500 low has closed off again. if it stays that way for some time we will do very well. the precip will expand and intensify and everything will be much slower leaving the area. the last few frames of the kokx radar show this very well. also, radar has a more easterly component than seen on models, so good things going on right now imo Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The speed of this storm will allow for accumulations of a few inches no matter what. If it sits over top of you, you're in good shape to gain a bit. Guest Pamela Posted February 14, 2014 Share Posted February 14, 2014 Went out for a snow depth measurement a few minutes ago (and it was tough to get out into an open area) and still had about 16" on the ground...the funny thing though, it was damn near impossible to force the yardstick through the bottom half...as thick and solid as iron was the glacier from previous storms. Snowing moderately in Metuchen over the last 20 minutes and a quick 1/4" of new snow is on the ground, whitening up everything, including the streets. Just walked around and it is very slick, as there was still slush on our road and it's starting to freeze, as the temp is 31F. I was almost ready to give up and go to sleep. Storm chaser Posted February 14, 2014 Share Posted February 14, 2014 Judging by Radar snow looks to hang around another few hours a lot of the area can pick up another few inches. I added close to an inch since snow started 1.5 hours ago but the snow is picking up a bit. Looks to be a couple bands that can give an inch per hr pretty easy.
