NJWeather201
Wow, you can really see this all taking shape on radar. I think we honestly may be surprised with the way radar is coming together. 850s will cool.
middlesea
At 32 here in Mt. Sinai....when this slug of rain gets here will evaporative cooling play a role in cooling the column to sleet or are we looking at some serious ice accretion along the n. shore? Guest Pamela
At 32 here in Mt. Sinai....when this slug of rain gets here will evaporative cooling play a role in cooling the column to sleet or are we looking at some serious ice accretion along the n. shore? That's a very good question and I'm not sure...was wondering the same...should be close call.

IsentropicLift
21z SREF's have 0.50" plus north of 95 and 0.75" plus into the LHV. Suffolk is 0.25" a long with Monmouth area. Heaviest looks to fall right up the heart of NJ and points due north.
TWCCraig
That's a very good question and I'm not sure...was wondering the same...should be close call. 96blizz
We'll go through 4 moderate risk events this summer without getting a single 1/4" hail report within 50 miles of this area. I'm not far from there and it's hard to believe, but there was most assuredly lightning and thunder here not too long ago.
jm1220
NWS Upton Twitter acct says ' Chg over to snow a lil later now 11p -12a' so relax & hold your horses. If we get to 2-4 hrs at 2 in an hr you do the math! stop complaining for Gosh's sake we got 7-15 in 1st rd , slotted to get more tonight and another storm tomorrow & we r over 50 inches for season. some calm would do all good. Seriously-consider the few inches from the upper low a huge bonus. It looks to be headed a fair bit east as well, near Ocean City, MD now. Places west of the upper air low are in for a few good hours or so, I think. The HRRR that everyone is freaking out about has snow lingering over Long Island until maybe 4am as well.
