Weathergun
There are thunderstorms with that feature. The 12z SPC WRF has that passing over NYC and LI tonight: the wetter models also have this "feeder band" feature in VA. the nam doesn't really have it

Capt. Adam
That is almost all from this evening, had just a bit of precip in NNJ and NYC and points North and East from the early frames (less than an inch in most cases except for a couple inches in Eastern CT). 0900 UTC = 4 am local

goldalex
If you check out the HRRR and compare the 850MB to the Composite radar, the 850 0 line runs out ahead of the squal. Looks like almost all of it will be falling as snow.

LHSnow
I am north of 25a (Laurel Hollow) and we have been at 32 for the last couple of hours Took a drive up north and a nice ice storm is going on up around 25a temp dropped from 36 to 32 in ten miles. SnoSki14
why? These can be somewhat unpredictable and they don't tend to work out as planned. It'll favor areas further to the north most likely with maybe a couple hours of mostly light snow around here I think. Plus it could be a while before it transitions to snow. If unpredictable, why further north, why not further south, or east, or west? Just curious about your reasoning.
SnoSki14
HRRR and RAP is good for N monmouth, stop being negative, Lord Earthlight save us from these weenie suicides I'm not complaining about it, I'm perfectly fine if we miss out. Trust me it's not a weenie suicide as I already received plenty of snow that I'm happy with.

jamesny
Awesome that HRRR is showing 6-8 for NYC. Still a bit disconcerting that 4K NAM focuses CCB too far west.
SnowGoose69
850s are not budging Until wind direction becomes 010 or more counterclockwise than that you won't really see any snow that should be 00z or maybe a bit later
Juliancolton
For what it's worth, I did a core sample of my 7.1" accumulation, which yielded .7" liquid equivalent. It wasn't 100% precise, but it would have rounded to .7" even with the most deliberate technique. Central Dutchess.

Perhaps I should have clarified. It's a bit meh compared to what a few earlier runs were showing. Just under a foot of new snow so far here. No complaints. PB GFI
Awesome that HRRR is showing 6-8 for NYC. Still a bit disconcerting that 4K NAM focuses CCB too far west. There`s 4 other models that look nothing like the 4k NAM for NYC why would you ever give it a second thought . You guys have to look at all the guidance and use a blend .
