The mini blizzard that is occurring on the Hudson here in Jersey City (Harborside Plaza) is amazing.  I had to walk through 3+ foot drifts and the snow was horizontal and blinding.  I didnt mind :)

I work there also. My company closed today though.

You will probably go back and forth between sleet and snow for a while.  FYI I am about 2 miles north of 25, so it is probably closer to 4 or 5 miles.

Ah, yeah you are "up there." Thanks for the frame of geographical reference!

There's a sleet/snow battle outside here as I type this.

Where is the mixing? .. still heavyyyyyy snowww NNJ..

NNJ through the lower HV and into W Ct. look to be the jackpot with this plus tonight... CCB climo is on their side.  Some spots will pull and 18 spot, perhaps a bit more.

Back to mostly snow here in Midtown, have a great view of the park.  It was 1/8 mi. vis. when I arriven, now more like 1/2.  Winds are stronger than they were in my sheltered part of Queens.

Lol yep the gfs is now on board and wallops us tonight .75" after 0z..probably not all snow though

Most models tonight close off the 500mb low in a good spot for us and form a heavy precip area over NJ that pivots through. That however rests on the low strengthening and closing off. If that doesn't happen, the RGEM could be right and send the CCB through eastern PA instead.

The closing low also has to be east of you to get heavy snow from it.

WOW that band means BUISNESS here in NE NJ ( Bergen Cty, Lodi, NJ) . Whiteout condtions. Rates easily 4-6" per hour right now.

No kidding.  We just got into the leading edge of that band here (Waldwick, Bergen Co.) and it is some of the heaviest snow I've ever seen.
