North Balti Zen
Makes zero sense kept me in a warning until 5 am Friday morning but only upped it to 8-12". There is already over 7" on the ground and there will be a foot by daybreak. Then they go on to say there will be another round of heavy snow from late tomorrow afternoon through the evening. Yet still 8-12", someone there is drunk or having severe sleep depravation. Part of me is glad. Our best snows in 2009/10 came when they kept busting low and upping. It's just this time...they don't seem to be upping. Epic heavy snow here now. Sorry you are missing this one. Would love to get to a foot before worrying about warm air aloft, changeovers, and then hoping that deform band stuff later today is for real. GATECH
Yeah, interesting sleet battle unfolding. Gonna be like this through tomorrow I think. Wtf is lwx smoking....why are they making this so complicated with this warning/advisory nonsense.

blueapple
In far South Arlington (395 & Route 7), snow seems to be pushing back sleet. Quiet as can be out there, and visibility looks to have dropped some, indicative of more snow mixing back in.

BTRWx
On the correlation coefficient loop you can see the nose advance to the district, and in the last few frames retreat. http://weather.cod.edu/satrad/nexrad/index.php?type=LWX-N0C-1-12 perfect
WxMan1
I think our time is running out here in AA County, according to the CC loops. As in, lower CC's coming in from the SE as well as the S. It's only a matter of time now, probably right around 09Z. Will take a measurement soon. Still no pingers yet..

jacindc
Radar keeps showing the lower/green/20-30 dbz rates right on my doorstep (just north of the SE Fwy), and then the 35s backfill at the last instant.

You can see the shadows of the individual flakes on the ground from the streetlights. 7.25". Not quite the rates as the previous hour, but still awesome. Joshfsu123
Just measured 5.75 inches at Navy Yard (near metro) in SE DC --- 5 minutes ago --- all snow was falling (moderate/heavy) but didn't feel or hear anymore sleet at this time. With a wind gust, I can hear 'pings' on the windows but when I look outside, its just snow. I'm guessing rimmed snow. Nothing bouncing off the lamp post in front of the window.
