I wish SPC was updating properly so I can confirm what I do believe is the development of the deformation band running SW to Northeast from Philly to NYC. That band should develop and fill as it first back builds somewhat to the west and then slides northeastward. Just to the west of that band is most likely the screw zone; and from the best that I can tell it's west central and north west Jersey.

Agree..thats why when we had these mini events this year that only drop 1-2 inches total I wonder how people report heavy snows

Radar supports my claim and i can't see pass two blocks down my street..just because you have light snow does not mean its the same everywhere else…look at radar scope…ur trolling is old and outdated

yep.

the snowfall rates have been very good in portions of middlesx county for a good portion of the morning.  no one actually seeing it would downplay it.

accumulations are another story.

Yes. So much exaggeration on here all winter with totals between 50 and 60 plus inches for the year.

The stupidity of pp who troll is amazing couldn't be heavy snow all year since the entire area has been blitzed.

Just another in a long list of dumb and zero added value comments.

I can support Allsnow on this one - it's been generally moderate snow for the last hour in Metuchen, a couple of miles from Allsnow, with a few bouts of heavy snow, where visibility did get down to 1/4 mile or below. Here's what I just posted in the obs thread.  That said, plenty of people do exaggerate snowfall intensity - probably not on purpose - I think many simply don't know the visibility definitions and some don't know how far 1/4 mile is (440 yards, the length of a good par 4, lol)

Been snowing fairly moderately here in Metuchen since about 11 am and we have 1/2" of new snow on the colder surfaces, like the existing snow (duh); just starting to accumulate a little on the asphalt street in front of my house (a coating).  Temps were around 37F before the snow started and have quickly dropped to about 33F since then.  My guess is a few inches on the colder surfaces, less on paved surfaces and only minor impact on travel, except for any bouts of heavy snow, which could make for slush on even major roads, for a short time (unless we get some heavier snow after 4 pm, which will stick around, as the sun will be low in the sky and temps by then should be down below 32F and dropping into the 20s then teens tonight).
