permafour
Flurries have started in downtown Charlottesville. EDIT: And by "flurries", I really mean light snow.
MichaelScott
It is absolutely ripping snow right now. Gotta be closing in on 2-3" already. Only started snowing at 2pm. You guys got a crazy band on top of you right now. Me and huff sitting under some measly 20-25 dbz Good stuff.
wxdude64
It is absolutely ripping snow right now. Gotta be closing in on 2-3" already. Only started snowing at 2pm. Yep, same here. Started at 3:45 pm, like a wall moving in, went from nothing to less than half mile vis in 5 minutes! About 1/2 on ground now in an hours time. BTW, I'm near Covington, VA And as I type it REALLY has opened up, maybe less than 1/4 vis.

MichaelScott
We could do better then a couple tomorrow. The euro and RGEM have a MEGA band. Think March 1, 09 type band. I think 2-8 inches extra is possible. 4 inches already in Danville. Wowza. Apparently NWS expects those of us near and north of 460 to be getting into some heavier stuff around 6pm or so. TL97
19Z HRRR is sweet... at 5 am 6-8 N of DC with DC proper at about 8" and good looking bands still rotating through.

Yeah you can see 35dbz popping up just sw of Roanoke. The immediate stickage is a great thing to see. I have a timelapse camera set up, which I hope will show the evolution of my foot of snow. NorthArlington101
Based on radar this gets going in DC proper by 7pm easy.. cameras show a lot of the front is just virga =( I still feel great, short range models show a plastering and I have serious doubts about mixing of consequence as long as we get a solid thump tonight. gymengineer
So far, nothing alarming/negative about what's happened south of us. It looks like Raleigh metro got 4-6" of snow before the switch over to sleet-- the forecast was 4-8" snow and sleet today.
