District is too big. It really should be broken up. Kids in Queens and SI and part of Brooklyn will have difficulty getting in. Manhattan is different. The Bronx will likely have even more snow. Who will staff these schools? Staff concerns should be considered as well.

Guys, school discussions should be in the banter thread. Deleting all these.

the administration is getting reports of 4-8 inches. NYC schools do not close for that. if there is a changeover as modeled, they feel they can get the day in. All of the major forecasters in the area are going with around 6 then rain. Even Joe Sobel. Are they gonna believe them or people here? When I was a kid the NYC schools did not close for snow. If they are wrong they will shrug it off.

Not all major forecasters.  Nick Gregory had 9 to 12 for NYC, and said it could go even higher based on the new data tonight.

Took this from NWS ALB, talks about the coastal front setting up all the way to Nantucket:

AS OF 1215 AM EST...A 1003MB LOW PRESSURE EAST OF WILMINGTON NC WAS
TRACKING NNE ABOUT 25 MPH. THIS LOOKS TO BE THE PRIMARY LOW CENTER
THAT WILL BECOME A FULL BLOWN NOR`EASTER BY LATER TODAY.

MEANWHILE...THERE WAS A SLEW OF CONVECTION OFF THE EASTERN
SEABOARD...NEAR THE GULF STREAM WHICH WILL HELP PUMP THE STORM AND
EASTWARD RIDGE...LIKELY FORCING THE STORM RIGHT UP JUST OFF THE
EASTERN SEABOARD.

ALSO...IT APPEARS THAT A COASTAL FRONT WAS SETTING UP EVEN AS FAR
NORTH AS NANTUCKET WHERE SURFACE WINDS HAVE SHIFTED TO THE
SOUTHEAST. THIS WILL BE THE PATH THE STORM TAKES...JUST OFF THE
EASTERN SEABOARD.
