CIK62
As a pre storm observation KWO 35 still off the air I think. Does this mean no WinterStormWarning for NYC? Plan was to activate in emergencies only. So what's up?
Zir0b
anyone notice how cold out it is today? we're not dealing with stale polar air here...wouldn't be surprised at all to see most places not get above freezing tomorrow, even KNYC. might also have to consider light freezing rain/drizzle during the dryslot

Storm dynamics can overwhelm an existing air mass in a hurry. it's not going to prevent a changeover to something non-snow, but surface temps might be 1-2f degrees colder, especially away from the ocean. Winds have shifted to have an easterly component here in the city, felt it on my run this morning along the East River.

NorthShoreWx
Highest snow water equivalents in the region seem to be along the fringes of LI Sound. Liquid equivalents in the snowpack are around 3" along the north shore and S CT. A thump of snow followed by rain tomorrow is going to add a lot of weight where the snow hasn't melted or been cleared from roofs: http://www.nohrsc.noaa.gov/interactive/html/map.html?ql=station&zoom=&loc=40.880+N%2C+73.211+W&var=swe_shallow&dy=2014&dm=2&dd=12&dh=16&snap=1&o9=1&o12=1&o13=1&lbl=m&mode=pan&extents=us&min_x=-73.758333333336&min_y=40.424999999996&max_x=-72.816666666669&max_y=41.133333333329&coord_x=++-73.211&coord_y=+++40.880&zbox_n=40.88069444444023&zbox_s=40.88069444444023&zbox_e=-73.21138194444691&zbox_w=-73.21138194444691&metric=0&bgvar=dem&width=600&height=450&nw=600&nh=450&h_o=0&font=0&js=1&uc=

odwalla
Where are we going to put this Manhattan has barely any real snow left, though the remaining glacier is surprisingly substantial, and measures over 6" on many sidewalks. Haven't seen anything as resilient (& disruptive for pedestrians) in quite some time. That scene looks like much more snow despite the same amounts falling. The next morning it's always like nothing has happened -- even after each of the two 10" storms this season. Perhaps tomorrow will be different.
