KamuSnow
Interestingly, there were a few flakes in the air here too about 15 minutes ago. Looking at the radar confirmed that the bands had popped up to the northwest a bit.

Violentweatherfan
Can anyone remember when and if it sleeted / freezing rain in phl and snowed in bucks county Pa? As far back as I can remember what ever the precip in phl, the Sam would fall in bucks county. One other thing I was thinking about this morning, albeit obvious to some is the 0° Celsius line is most likely wider than depicted on the model maps. Soundings come into play and help temper (pun) expectations.

I can't remember the exact date, but there was an event in the winter of 1981 in which it rained the whole day in Center City and it was wet snow where I was living in Churchville (Bucks County). Of course, the snow only stuck to non-paved surfaced but on those surfaces we accumulated 3 or 4 inches.

Yeah sounds weenie - ish but it works. I should be able to remember that in 81....hmm

famartin
There were no special metars put out between hourly obs which they should have done if any precip was observed. I agree though, sure does look like it's reaching the ground Actually that's not how ASOS is programmed. It responds strictly to aviation thresholds, so if snow fell between hours but visibility and ceiling did not fall below visual flight rule thresholds (5 miles visibility and 3,000 foot ceiling) (for long enough for the ASOS to register it at least, which is a few minutes), then ASOS would not issue any special observations. Heisy
Ray 3 questions; 1) Any chance you fly out here?! 2) Any update on your website? Looking forward to looking at last year's maps for fun 3) Have you saved the maps from this year's events, if not is there a website I could get some 500mb maps from some of the storms this year? I'd like to create a little folder of stuff from this year's winter.

Want to wait a bit more for better consensus. 2) Working on it, hope to have things done in a month. (Yeah I've said that before ) 3) I do have stuff saved but not 500 maps; I download them from the North American Regional Reanalysis at a later date. Sorry!
