magpiemaniac
This storm is a complete failure. I'll be lucky to get a dusting of snow when it's over. ;-) Sorry. Somebody had to say it.
seasonsoflove
Power is still on but flickering. Trees are starting to crack, fb pics are going up of downed trees and smoking transformers. All the poor birdies huddled around our birdfeeder... and it's only 10:00! EDIT: a tree split across the street. :/
packbacker
Pack, does the RGEM still have the big time deform band move through for us? Compare the 12z v/s the 0z track, deeper, slower and more east... 12z 0z
packbacker
Pack, does the RGEM still have the big time deform band move through for us? The deform band just plasters GSO/CLT, we still get a lot of precip but the east tick moves the deform band right over them. W-NC people don't fret, you still get it really good too. jwalker1321
Sorry I'm new to this, but isn't the east tick what RDU wanted?
superjames1992
I believe in the RGEM. The NAM is a horrible model with this storm, but I'm glad to see it fall in line.
Thrasher Fan
I know and understand everything that is being said in the OBS thread but as of right now this is a massive bust. Things can and might change but Im not buying it being even winter storm warning criteria.
JoshM
Looking at GSP radar... is that a little bit of a spin I see over the NC Piedmont, or is it just some kind of rotation?
NEGa
fwiw in ne ga radar has some back building, and even though not showing up even without returns overhead it is still snow, just not heavily

Allan just said the RGEM moved east, which is nice. I just want RDU to get enough snow so our kiddos can go sledding . I find what models to trust during different times very fascinating. FLweather
Agree SJ. The storm hasn't even started yet. The radar is looking better out west.

LOL I'm in the foothills, but I'm certainly not calling bust. GAME ON. The upper level energy is just now coming together, everybody always has pre-storm radar hallucinations. I shouldn't even post this, as I don't believe it, but the HRRR was pretty good 2 weeks ago in showing the bust…hopefully Brick doesn't look. Jet Stream Rider
Looking at GSP radar... is that a little bit of a spin I see over the NC Piedmont, or is it just some kind of rotation? Maybe its gravity waves! Seriously though, not sure I see what you are seeing. Can you link to the site you are using?
Jon
Man it's like clockwork people calling bust just as the storm begins...with the RAP showing a cutoff earlier than modeled...hit the exit button and enjoy the storm folks.

Edit: Keep in mind, this includes ice too, but roughly 4-5" of snow on the HRRR, probably a little less with lower ratios, this is for RDU. packbacker
HRRR has 1-2" per hour snow from about 5-8" for RDU, we probably flip to ice around 8-9pm than maybe to rain about midnight, will see.
Wow
LOL at the foothills folks calling bust already. You're going to get plastered, so enjoy it. Bust talk flaring up right on time. It's not a real storm until you have it.
strongwxnc
About to have a lull here with the snow. Storm over.. Damm.. Bust talk flaring up right on time. Wow
Hey, I also want to thank everyone for keeping cool with our slowdowns over the past couple of days. The traffic bump we experience during certain model releases has been astromonical. We are lightning fast with high traffic, but when the refresh button on everyone's computer goes into hyper-mode when the models first come out, we've gotten hammered with our database connections getting maxxed out. Plus, this one is affecting so many folks, it's been a rough go. I hope to have this resolved for the next big one. Thanks

That be me, lol I've lived through many snow busts and when you talking 12+ inches it's really high potential busts. that's just mo! I believe it when I stick a ruler in the ground to measure. lol Just call me skeptical.......... \ EDIT: I'm ready to enjoy, got kids sleds ready gas in the Polaris Ranger ready to ride!!! Flakes should start flying here within the hour, though. Well that's per HRRR, RAP has us flipping to rain around 7pm (yikes). HRRR has rain right through Wake County about 10-11pm, but it's very close to being frzn. Will see, I do think we go to rain for a bit, hopefully not long or hopefully we dry slot. Cold Rain
Looks like the GFS has the heaviesy totals just to our west. Can't see the county map yet. I can't tell if it moved east or west.
