lilj4425
Trees and shrubs getting pasted! 3 inches on the ground, temp 34! No accums under pine and cedar trees or evergreen shrubs. Will be very damaging with a foot on top of this tomorrow ! Amazing to see 3 inches at your place and only dusting just a little north in Travelers Rest. Wonder what the reason for that is. Rates? alhooks13
RGEM is very Euro'ish, it could be over for RDU, cold rain I'm really hoping this comes to fruition. I do not want an ice storm.

Iceagewhereartthou
Need to get wedged! This bonus snow is awesome , but gloppy! Would like to get to the 20s for the big event!? Yeah, pretty tough to watch six hours of moderate snow yield no acumms. What a waste! Could have easily been several inches.

Rates?Yes. Ever since I woke up about 545 ish and looked at the radar, the heaviest returns were 85 and south and they still are. Currently mod- heavy snow and quarter size flakes
Bevo
This first wave is performing above expectations for both northern and southern upstate SC right now (except the really northern parts). I posted a crappy phone vid in the OBS thread, but it has since increased.
chapelhillwx
Amazing to see 3 inches at your place and only dusting just a little north in Travelers Rest. Wonder what the reason for that is. Rates? Yep we've been on the edge of it all morning. Have had moderate snow at times which gives us a dusting and then melts until the next dusting comes. Until late last night it looked like it would totally miss here so I'm not too surprised.
Bevo
It's comical that there is complaining about watching snow fall and not piling up the roads. This is more than what was expected during the first hit.
mackerel_sky
Over preforming? Or going as forecast?Over + !! It looked like models had us in the center of the band, but I thought temps would be an issue and get an inch at best! Currently 3+, temps hurting a little@
Winterhawk
That really is some cold air in the upper Midwest/Great Lakes fixing to move E then down for the CAD; this will be wild.. Still hoping and praying the Ice isn't as bad as models are showing however if anything it could be even more expansive.
Spurscar
Just keeps on snowing in Irmo/CAE area... backyard is half white, big flakes still falling. Pretty good for the general thought being nothing frozen after 7am.

This is more than what was expected during the first hit. Yep, I'm smiling up here near CLT. Nice little surprise as I wasn't expecting more than some token flakes or a few passing snow showers! WxBlue
Look like 2nd wave at NC/SC border overperformed as well like the 1st wave for I-40 folks yesterday. Wondering if this mean tomorrow will overperform as well?
packbacker
GFS kind of kooky, very slow crawling up the coast, has heavy precip for RDU through Thursday afternoon, major frzn storm.
Bevo
Over preforming? Or going as forecast? There's no question it's over performing. "Forecasts" had me at a dusting by tonight. "Reality" has me at 1" with a nice looking radar at the moment.
mackerel_sky
So to get this straight, bad runs for packbacker, brick , and cold rain = good runs for W NC and upstate?
Brick Tamland
Read on the other place for RDU: GFS snow to ip to zr to snow here. 5-9 of snow as the deformation band drops a good 3-
packbacker
So to get this straight, bad runs for packbacker, brick , and cold rain = good runs for W NC and upstate? Jackpot is between I-85 and 77, foothills does well. GFS tracks low right over Hatteras, really have a nice consensus of that, Euro and GFS are maybe 25 miles apart. weatherheels
GFS looks like sleet during the heart of the storm for the entire triad.

Hugo
GFS kind of kooky, very slow crawling up the coast, has heavy precip for RDU through Thursday afternoon, major frzn storm. GFS has been insisting on 2-2.5" zr for CAE-FLO too.
wncsnow
the deformation band on the GFS is definitely further west this run and moving very slowly
FLweather
So to get this straight, bad runs for packbacker, brick , and cold rain = good runs for W NC and upstate? Yup.. I85 N/W about as classic as classic can get.
Iceagewhereartthou
Trees and shrubs getting pasted! 3 inches on the ground, temp 34! No accums under pine and cedar trees or evergreen shrubs. Will be very damaging with a foot on top of this tomorrow ! I'm very jealous. Getting heavy snow right now and still can't get a dusting with surface temps at 34. Been stuck at 34 all morning and nothing. This is the worst set up imaginable. I'd rather have 33 and rain while my neighbor is getting snow than to actually get snow with no accums! Wow
the deformation band on the GFS is definitely further west this run and moving very slowly A bit NW of I-85 ... GFS looks great actually. I'd stay a fanned out stripe from GSP and NW between CLT and HKY on up into C VA is looking like the sweet spots based latest models. I try to bias myself here, but I'll take it! Cold Rain
So, Pack, are we all frozen then? Looks like it to me, verbatim.
Dunkman
So to get this straight, bad runs for packbacker, brick , and cold rain = good runs for W NC and upstate? I don't think there's been a good run for anyone since the 0z Euro. I mean verbatim a lot of them are ok but everything seems to be trending warmer.
