Didn't there used to be a "storm mode"? If there is a time for it to be reinstated, it is now. Of course that means I'll have to shut up but, hey, better for everyone!

There's too much in the banner to fit it up there.

I'll just start banning people.

Given they come out at different times it probably doesn't matter.

It would be interesting if this happens as Euro ens is a classic 95 snowstorm.. missing for a while but a few (lesser) this winter now.

We just need to fill in the 8-12 through DC and Philly now.

With no block its still a quick mover generally speaking but the precip shield is so expansive on guidance and the storm appears to be setup up to be quite moisture laden so 1"+ qpf seems quite possible near or over us.

If we can avoid losing the column during the heaviest rates I could see a big hit in dc.

I've totally accepted mixing being likely so it won't sting much if it happens. I've seen enough guidance to expect some decent snowfall in my yard as well. Decent meaning in expecting 4"+ unless things go awry. Plenty of time for that too.

I name the storm - The White Album

Beatles - 50th anniversary of playing DC  - February 11, 1964 (8" snowstorm for DC)

Winter Olympics in Russia

Back in the USSR - on White Album, Snow is white (or yellow/brown in DC)

Oh, show me around your snow-peaked mountains way down south
Take me to your daddy's farm
Let me hear your balalaika's ringing out
Come and keep your comrade warm

What maps are you looking at? Unless I'm misreading it, the surface and 850 temps on instantweathermaps shows freezing SE of DC across southern MD.

850 at 81 and 84 are basically I-95

Its in la la land... but hr 84 is a sleet sounding... big warm nose 750-850

Still cranking @ 84 as well. Nice run.

Agree with the mix. Sleet for sure verbatim. But would change back to snow before shutting off. Surface is great.

verbatim, DC flips at around 9pm, and most of us in DC metro by midnight...but a really nice thump before then and likely back to snow at some point..snow-sleet-snow

Haven't seen this talked about here yet but timing is almost perfect for DC, especially this time of year.  Heaviest stuff is when the sun is down.

Yes, but this is also the period that our 850's get the warmest.

We're going to mix regardless...I hope everyone has the expectations grounded and realize this.   Doesn't look like plain rain at this point, but this won't be an all snow event for most of us except the favored N and W areas.
