Enough of the cold..

Recommended Posts

I generally enjoy all weather and winter is certainly my favorite - so I rarely get enough winter.....that said the last week has not been fun for a lot of folks and I am hoping that after this potential big snow event this week we melt this off pretty quickly and are rewarded with a nice early spring.....that said I expect one last higher elevation event for my backyard in March and then Let's Go Phillies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spring is always more enjoyable after a cold winter.  One way or another, it has to warm up now due to sun angle/climate.  I'm personally hoping for an early spring due to:

1. High heating costs.  Seriously, when it starts to impact your pocket book it's not so fun anymore.

2. I have an old car, it still works.  I want a new one, but due to pot holes, road salt, and higher % chance of

accidents I'm holding off until "spring" to get a new one.

3. I want to get some home repairs done.

4. I want to get out and DO FUN STUFF!  (hiking, target shooting, golfing, ect.)  If you aren't into skiing (either type) there's only so much to do in winter other than look at it and shovel it.

I had to get new tires three weeks ago because 309's potholes broke bands in two of them. Driving around like a hawk with my eyes on the road driving under the speed limit now not fun. Got to figure at least a month before they start patching the roads back together

btw anybody heading north on 309 right before you enter into quakertown don't use the left lane on the expressway, it's a tire killer out of mad max

Thank you for the warning.  I bent a rim in 1994 just outside of East Greenville due to massive pot holes.  (it was more like a trench)  I can't imagine there are too many roads without pot holes around our area now, we all need to drive like you are unless we want damage!  (and doesn't this ALWAYS happen:  you are approaching known pot hole area, there just has to be a car in the other lane approaching you, and someone riding your rear bumper behind you.....)  I'm hoping they patch some in March, but I figure realistically late April until driving is enjoyable again.  This winter has steered me from considering a Subaru WRX more to an Outback or Forester.....low profile tires and pot holes are no fun :(   (plus the ground clearance on them is better for snow/gravel roads)

I like winters like this one, springs like last year (maybe a little less rain), summers with no extended (longer than 3 or 4 days) hot and humid spells, and falls like the past one. Please :).

I get the cabin fever thing, but I can wait for spring, I'm enjoying the snow. It probably makes a difference down this way too because we're often on the edge.

This. Not only have I filled up more often (oil), but the price per gallon has risen dramatically, so it's a double whammy. For me, I took a good ass beating with energy costs this winter.

Additional caution-309 is like a creek bed now heading south out of quakertown, local auto shops have struck gold
