Trent
I have no idea how we got 8 inches here on the west side of Cleveland! My largest "continual" snow storm of the year and largest in 4 years. Definitely a WTF event.

Beautiful Pics. I am bummed there will be some compacting/melting before my next trip up there. At least it will be very brief and 95% of it will not be touched. michsnowfreak
We picked up another inch overnight. Some drifting. It is just beautiful out and I cannot remember snow/scenes this deep. Hoping to avoid disaster Thursday. Storm total imby was 4.9" snow on 0.41" liquid. We probably were good for a boost of at least an extra half to maybe inch downriver because of that burst where thundersnow was reported by many. I am now at 79.5" on the season! DTW picked up 4.4" so they are at 77.3" on the season, 3rd snowiest on record...next stop..2nd place! It looks like most of metro-Detroit was within the 4-5" range with 5-8" further north in the Saginaw Valley. More or less in line with predictions. Not an overperformer, but not really the underperformer some feared either. Looks like Riverview (city that borders me) reported 5.0", right in line with my 4.9" and as said..we got a slight boost from that thunder cell. Any guesses to what the LOL report of the day is? Who else! Grosse Pointe with 2.1" Morning snowfall total/snow depth reports: DTX: 3.5"...dpth 22"ARB: 4.2"...dpth 19" DTW: 4.4"...dpth 20" MBY: 4.9"...dpth 21" FNT: 5.3"...dpth 16"MBS: 5.5"...dpth 23" The snowman stick goes up to 15"...the inches are all buried now. The word "snow" would be approx 20" depth.

michsnowfreak
My boss was telling me that when she saw the thundersnow last night, it was a bright flash of yellow and a low rumble, than another bright flash and a loud boom of thunder, which had her dog jump up and run to the window barking. Damn that I missed it!

Geos
Snow rollers are pretty cool. Not sure if I've ever seen them around here before. They remind me of mini, white hay bales.

SchaumburgStormer
Very cool! I have never seen snow rollers in person. I got a chance in 2003 when I was growing up downstate. Huge hollow rollers about 12-18" in diameter. It was really cool, especially once I realized how specific the conditions need to be to create them. Event page for that one is linked, those ones were larger and more impressive than what occurred recently, but cool nonetheless. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/ilx/events/roller/roller.php
