Chicago WX
Around 6" here. Starting to blow and drift pretty bad. A few more from earlier. Looks great, nice photos. I went out for a walk tonight, to soak up the scenes, and the winds are blowing today's snow around here too. Probably a nasty night to be driving around in rural areas. Jonger
Sure will miss all this snowpack when it's gone. I hope the torch doesnt take all of it, though with an inch of rain and foggy 40's on the horizon it'll be close. I don't know the situation in Detroit, but I don't think I'll even lose 10% of it here.
Thunder Road
6.5" in Portage5.8" in LaPorte so idk, like 5-6" here? Impossible to measure with all the drifting...
mjwise
I don't know the situation in Detroit, but I don't think I'll even lose 10% of it here. I think we'll lose more to the late February sun over the next 2 days than perhaps the rain event itself. A dreary day socked with clouds and rain falling in the 30's with a brief spike into the low 40's is just limited to what it can do. DTX has lows dipping below freezing for at least some time every day too, which will limit melting.

Chargers09
I have 5 inches of water content in my snow. With an inch of rain possible, and dewpoints near the same as the air temp, I'd definitely say you're going to lose more than 10% of your snowpack imo. Agree...but also...as it stands now...anyone saying that an inch of rain and temps briefly spiking into the 40s would deplete the entire snowpack is equally incorrect. Jonger
10% is probably an under exaggeration, but it won't be that significant... Models have a local QPF of .25 to .50 for the entire rain event.
wisconsinwx
10% is probably an under exaggeration, but it won't be that significant... Models have a local QPF of .25 for the entire rain event. That is bound to change, and more likely than not will increase rainfall than decrease. Unless you stay near freezing the next two days, there is very little chance that you will retain 90% or more of your snowpack.

dmc76
2.0" exactly. Looks like another 2" at best. Will lose 40- 50% of our snow pack at least
michsnowfreak
I thought the forecast for your area was 3-5 inches? Anything that doesnt overachieve is underachieving to powerball For once it looks like we will hit the low end of a DTX forecast (for like, the first time this winter haha) but still 3+ is a lock for all. What did I say earlier...if DTX goes bullish, its cause for worry. Otherwise...all hell may break loose from the heavens. One thing I WILL say though...this is a powerball special. This storm is ALL about the rates.
roardog
I know most here hate to lose snowpack but at least it's late February so no matter what, you know the snowpack will start dwindling soon anyway even during sunny below freezing days.
