WinterWxLuvr
Are you sure? I thought "mid Atlantic" meant a 30 mile radius around DC. Yours is an interesting concept. LOL, very true.
yoda
Still doesn't mean the Euro is right No, but even though its the la la land of the NAM, it def took more of a step toward what the Euro showed in its past 4 runs with its h5 depiction and SLP. Granted, it may change again at 06z... but it looks a lot better for us
DDweatherman
I must say, the NAM at 84 does show the development of precip down towards NOLA. In addition, DT has stated the 50/50 in New Brunswick is in place. The post 84 frames could show a phase, and Wes actually agrees with the phasing potential a la what the ECM has shown. Indeed there isn't a guarantee temperatures would be as nice as the 12z Euro verbatim. However, it is certainly possible to see the N/S energy phasing from North Dakota and assisting to dig southward pumping those heights along the east. The truth is that the second wave is certainly the one to watch.

paxpatriot
I just checked the EPS individual member precip output (not flawed snow charts). Very supportive of timing and amounts. About .7 liquid for DCA. Only 2 dry members during the 96-126hr period. I'm not sure how the euro can have it this wrong. 95% of the members show .15+ during the period. Doesn't the GFS have the same support from its own ensembles? If that is the case, seems like we have reached the point where one or the other has it "this wrong". yoda
Alright... GFS looks better at 81... just a slight difference compared to 18z GFS at 87... very slight Looks at least somewhat similar to the 00z NAM at 84... precip max is a bit further east on the GFS at
SLPressure
Seems the GFS wants to give credence to the second wave in the gulf. More Euro like?

yoda
Doesn't look like it will quite get there to the EURO at 96... but its a definite major step toward the EURO and away from whatever garbage fire the 18z was

yoda
It comes up with some weird dual low look on the SLP maps that messes it up at 102... but it lends credence toward EURO... now lets see what happens with the rest of the suite tonight

Deck Pic
It has the phase again that it completely lost at 18z......but it is still the 2nd wave..however this time it digs way further south and takes a better track....still too far southeast for us, and still completely washes out the initial wave that the euro amplifies...it is worth noting that it is a MASSIVE change from 18z for Thursday

AvantHiatus
I do not like how the cold air is draining out quickly, is that because there is no phasing with the northern stream? High pressure is hauling east as well, seems like a bad setup if you live east of I-95 and just a "mood flakes" setup for west of I-95.
