KPITSnow
Gfs,cmc, now euro ticks north. We are on fringe of 11 inches . image.jpg What do you mean by fringe? That 11 inch line is basically in wv?
CoraopolisWx
Mabey, those solid returns in southern Indiana will clip some of us. That is, if it can out run the dry air pressing in from Illinois.
RitualOfTheTrout
Gfs,cmc, now euro ticks north. We are on fringe of 11 inches .image.jpg Dang that map is so frustrating! I feel like a broken record but if that could just come another 50 miles North most of us would be in the 6+ easy. Who knows, maybe it still will but its definitely been a South and East of Pittsburgh winter when it comes to several of the storms this year. All that heavy snow that was over most of PA just got shoved South by an ill timed vort rotating around the PV. Anyways, some light snow falling now. Hopefully everyone enjoys what we get. Its possibly our last significant snowfall of the season. I'm still wondering if there will be a monster storm before the pattern finally breaks for Spring. Not saying if there is it will hit us, but that's usually how these things end.
Jen16226
I was wishing this would be the big one and be done with it. Softball season is "supposed" to start in 2 weeks. It would be nice to get the true beginning of the season in, instead of making up games.

CoraopolisWx
Snow is what I would say high - moderate right now. About 0.75" and accumulating fast, with these nice rates. Really good dendrite growth atm.

Thunderhead
Indianapolis received 0.23" liquid equivalent from this batch of snow (snow has really lightened there recently). That could give an idea of what KPIT's liquid equivalent may be for the event.

north pgh
Unfortunately everything we get will be from the first batch. I am still guessing 2-4, 3-6 and then it ends tonight. Nothing from the second batch.

Burghblizz
Surface wind streamlines This is what you want to look at for storm direction type information. The west to east nature is very a-typical for a big storm here, and part of the problem. The progressive nature is in part what is keeping the second wave south. Generally, we see a prettty substantial bucking, a "negative tilt", and/closed circulation at this level. The latter is very important in our area with coastal storms as it prevents it from "getting away"

I am guessing salt shortage in Bethel, since haven't seen a truck since this started.

ChalkHillSnowNut
I know someone who works for the borough here in Bethel and they have been throwing sand instead of salt lately....I actually like the scene of a white covered street!....its really pounding here still....wish we could see something from that second wave but don't think we'll get any of that tonight.... Stinkbugspecialist
NOAA is calling for 2-4 today 1-3 tonight. Inch or under Tommrow
Thunderhead
We don't see anything from the second wave huh?....even Washington county? Am more confident that KPIT gets little-no accumulation from second wave. Southern Washington County is a harder call. Perhaps 1-2" from second wave there? Stinkbugspecialist
NOAA has not done a new discussion since 330 am ?
