RitualOfTheTrout
Looks like a boring week. Sent from my iPhone Yeah, it could be that way. I think you still need to check the models every day or every other day. Pattern is similar to earlier ones in that something could pop up 1 -2 days out. Rdd9108
Eh not impressed with the pattern, it went from promising to very disappointing. Anyway for the third and I think final time

blackngoldrules
Maybe something to keep an eye on for early next week. It's just the long range GFS, so it's a longshot at best, but something to keep an eye on I guess. Not sure if the other models are showing something similar. All the models have something around that time to watch. I am hearing a few long-range forecasters discussing mid-month, including on Weather World, where they mentioned the possibility of something big at that time. As Stinkbugspecialist said, our climate is not one where you can count out snow chances even into April. Hell, I remember seeing the daffodils around Station Square crushed by snow a couple of times when I lived in Pittsburgh. A sad sight that was, lol. Rdd9108
Miller B next week. I hate miller bs, its tough to be in the right position. Gfs is a hit for us and the Euro is a little north. Still a long way to go.

psunate1977
March is my favorite month. We can see a variety of weather, plus the days get longer. We have seen our biggest 24 hour snowfall in March and had a tornado a few years ago in March. It was tough walking in cold today after last week. I'm starting to really want warmer temps. Wouldn't mind a big snow, but as March goes on I'll be looking for warmer temps. I think we start to seeing warmer temps late March. Just a hunch. RitualOfTheTrout
Heavy snow in Greensburg right now.. wasn't expecting this! 6z GFS was a nice hit for KPIT for next week, if you like 7 inches of snow then a major ice storm. It had a really long event lasting for 2 days lol. I'm sure it will change but that would have been a very disruptive solution.
JamieOber
Just realized that clocks go forward on 3/9. Nice to have it about 3 weeks earlier than it used to be. There's something that I like, and I can't put my finger on it, about it snowing when it's still light out at 7 pm. I guess that it feels weird. Verbatim is a close call between zr and sleet and rain, its so far out though that who knows if that solution will even be close to correct! If we are not getting any snow with this system I would rather have rain. No need for ice storms ever especially in March.

RitualOfTheTrout
12z Euro hammers western PA and central Pa all the way to 'NYC Canadian isn't to shabby either from what I gather. Hopefully someone posts a Euro snow map, should be pretty pornographic lol.

Rdd9108
Well I checked the CMC and its a lot further south than GFS. Verbatim SW PA sees almost 2ft. Wow, I hate how these models keep reeling me back in.
Thunderhead
12z Euro is intriguing -- nice 12 hour snowfall dump over PIT 6-18z Mon. As usual, I expect that the solution will change a bit as we get closer to the possible event. Main s/w appears to eject from the large 500 hPa low over the northern Pacific. Until that s/w is over land (perhaps by 0z Sun), I imagine model solutions will be unsettled. Still, as modeled it's a nice storm with decent high pressure to the north and PIT cold enough for snow. 850 hPa low tracks over the Morgantown, WV area. Rdd9108
Canadian Snow Map from JB twitter: Canadian.png I'm guessing the Euro is even better. No its about the same. The only difference is the Euro is weaker further south but both models give the area fwiw 10+ inches from the waves.

Rdd9108
What do you think Jamie. Do you think this is Pitts storm for once? The models are too far out to put any stock in anything.
