Figures I would go to work and miss thundersnow. I was surprised to see I only had to go about two or three miles toward town for straight rain. Nice to hear it's still snowing up there. We had three inches or so when I left. Did we pick up much more?

Very heavy snow for the last half hour. Thunder woke me up to the north.

Haven't been out yet to measure but it is now snowing big flakes and visibility has got to be 1/4 mile or less for the last hour.

Schools have just canceled.

Big ol' dud down here, second wave has missed completely. Hard to believe a call of 1 to 2 would bust low haha. Well can't win em all, hope it is nice for ya'll to the north!

Didn't do much better in my neck of the woods. Picked up a half inch with that first wave that went through last night. Then temps went up overnight and turned things to rain. When I left for work this morning, it was starting to sleet in Bethel and now it's sleeting with some snow trying to mix in where I'm at in Bridgeville. I would have to say I busted low as well since I was in the 2-4 range for this and definitely didn't get that.

:axe:  Same here! I can see on radar a pretty heavy band slammed my backyard, but nothing here in Greensburg, just light snow. I'll have to call my wife and see if she heard thunder.

So the next question is how much of our snowpack do you think we lose with the slight warm up.

I think its going to take a pretty big hit to be honest. Thursday-Sat look pretty brutal with SW winds and high dew points. I think Thursday night we also stay above freezing. Compact all that with some rain and you have a recipe for fast snow melt.

It will be interesting to see what staying power the pack has with a frozen ground underneath and probably at least 1.5 inches liquid equivalent.

My snow weenieism aside, I'm hoping for a slow melt for folks that live near rivers. A fast melt + rain + ice jams could spell a disaster.

Just shoveled again. 3 inches of heavy wet snow. I think 2 of it fell in a one hour period this morning with this last batch.

It was funny because last night's squall line, which I thought would be bigger dropped about 1/2 inch. Then this morning I was expecting an inch or less and get a 2 inch burst with Thundersnow. Never turned to rain here.

My wife works in the city and said all the roads she were on are clear. No problems

I don't know about the city schools but the schools in the North Hills all pretty much had to close. We were getting  1 to 2 inch rates from 6:30 until 8:00 here and the timing was bad. Roads are wet now but they had no choice with the snow coming down when it did.
