Allsnow
I love big rainstorms, call me strange. The heavier the rain the better. What it stems from is that my love is for big storms, no matter what kind. Tell us how you will enjoy? What activities do you do during a cold rainstorm? What's the best part of the event? IsentropicLift
It's a little stronger with the handling of the southern stream fort but I think the overall features and the pattern look quite similar actually. It's more amped up and stronger with the southern stream vort by day 5 than the GFS.
earthlight
Tell us how you will enjoy? What activities do you do during a cold rainstorm? What's the best part of the event? Watching the cold rain drip off my gutter into the pile of grass and mud that was once a big white snow pile. That's my favorite.

The thing that will help this run come a little north of the GFS is that the wave spacing is bette reoriented so that the fort can move east and height rises can occur on the east coast. IsentropicLift
Tell us how you will enjoy? What activities do you do during a cold rainstorm? What's the best part of the event? Just the awe of watching the wind and the rain. That being said I enjoy the modeling and forecasting far more than the actual storm itself. And that runs across the board. earthlight
There is a small piece of northern stream energy coming into the trough base which is very far south over the Southeast Gulf states. That should help at least.

IsentropicLift
It's blowing up the low over southern Alabama. Much stronger than the GFS.
earthlight
The Euro still has a meaningful shortwave and trough with a small phase occurring at 120 hrwhile the GFS at that hour had completely dampened out the shortwave in a progressive flow. Impossible to say which one is right at this juncture but the Euro will definitely lean towards the GGEM and that is not hard to see at all. IsentropicLift
The high is retreating to the northeast but this is coming up the coast and in a much more organized fashion than the GFS.

earthlight
This is going to be a nice run..the surface low is moving up the coast as the Euro has very well timed interaction between two pieces of energy.
IsentropicLift
Yup, big low coming up the coast. Well inside the GGEM track.

IsentropicLift
If this does flip to rain it's only going to be for the immediate coastline.
IsentropicLift
Sub 1000mb low east of Ocean City, MD at hour 144. Surface is a little warm but 850's are cold. What a paste job.
IsentropicLift
Looks like it becomes vertically stacked at hour 150 because the low begins to weaken.
IsentropicLift
No way is this going to end up as a rainstorm. It's either going to be a wound up low tucked into the coast like the Euro shows or weak and well OTS like the GFS.
psuhoffman
The high is retreating to the northeast but this is coming up the coast and in a much more organized fashion than the GFS. But what is the trend??? 0z was weaker and further east then 12z yesterday and that was further east then 0z Thursday. If today's 12z is again further east then I think we can see where this is going... When a storm is 5 days away its not about what each run of the operation model shows but also about the setup and how things are trending. I won't get to "see" the run until later, but I want to see it hold serve or if anything have a stronger solution then previous to feel comfortable it is not trending towards the GFS. GGEM btw was well west of where it is not yesterday also.
Neblizzard
Snowstorm at 138. The flow off the pacific is very progressive, does the euro show a Davis Straight Block this run ?

If it doesn't phase at all you get the GFS. If it phases big, well we haven't seen that yet.

PB GFI
I think this isn`t a bad place to be 6 days out as it`s East of it`s 0z its an all out snowstorm just away from coast . but 850`s are below 0 c for the whole area thru 144 , so the surface is so close at the coast , not a bad solution sitting here . Did not say it did but there is no debating that over the last two runs it has been trending more east....
