WxKnurd
For CLT to RDU NAM is just a dump, then like an inch of sleet then back over to snow. Insane. Solid 6-8" snow after looking at that map and converting to inches, 1" sleet compacting that down, then top it off with a little more snow and glaze of freezing rain/drizzle as this pulls up the coast, just wow. Thanks for the PBP!
DixieBlizzard
I think you did scare Shawn....me on the other hand....if I'm getting ice, it had better be one I'm gonna remember for years to come. I'm not sure of the highest ice accum's here at cae, but one would think if the totals were cut in half from todays output, it would be close to setting records LOL @ Michelle. Poor Shawn. He was ready to leave the state last night...LOL!
franklin NCwx
Still snowing hard at 84 in western nc. This is almost March 93 redux.
ILMRoss
Another interesting run from the NAM. I also haven't seen the double barrel low look like the nam has yet, with one low off of Delmarva while another low is still of the coast of Georgia. superjames1992
The NAM is probably too amplified, per its bias, but that is interesting. It's going to be a fun week!
Snowless in Carrollton
Still snowing hard at 84 in western nc. This is almost March 93 redux. That would be nice for the Atlanta area since many areas had close to a foot.

burgertime
If you need to temper your excitement look at 5h maps for 12z NAM at 84 and 18z at 78. You'll see why people make fun of the LR NAM.
chapelhillwx
25-30 at my locale, no big deal That map is in centimeters, it's actually 12-14 or something like that in inches.
deltadog03
On road right now. How did 2m temps look over ga? Just as cold as 12z run?

Buddy1987
I'm beginning to get a little more of the degree all in moment if you will lol the European and Canadian suites are gung-ho and with the nam showing an absolute bomb if the GFS were to show something significant it's go time I know it's the 18z runs but it's still indicative of how awesome this setup is with that northern energy digging on the backside. Cold Rain
How can the NAM produce that much snowfall? It looks like the 850 line is way north and west in NC.

sctvman
The MeteoStar GFS looks very interesting for Charleston. Starts out as rain Tuesday morning, then goes down to 33 Tuesday afternoon. The precip would continue all thru Wednesday. 1/4" of ice closed down the Ravenel for over two days, so any winter precip would be a huge deal here. OGB is within 31-33 all day Wednesday and into Thursday morning.

Poimen
How can the NAM produce that much snowfall? It looks like the 850 line is way north and west in NC. By my estimation, the NAM drops about 8" of snow in RDU followed by about .75- 1.00 liquid equivalent of freezing rain/sleet.
RevDodd
Good call grabbed the wrong map! Does the NAM map differentiate between SN and the IP/ZR mix? I'm looking at soundings across the Sandhills and seeing LOTS of those, but having trouble finding snow. 2 inches of sleet and ZR is beyond bad news!
