Obviously I don't know jack about central IL climo because those records look uber lame. Especially Peoria's.

Both are not very snowy places, relatively speaking. It's kind of the land of nickels and dimes...though recent winters have had some bigger dogs. One example...Springfield shattered their biggest snowstorm on record with the March 24-25, 2013 storm (18.5" at SPI).

IIRC the November 30, 2006 heartbreaker storm also nailed those places pretty nicely.

With Chicago's record around 90" I guess I didn't expect to see an almost 40" decline within 100 miles.

Yeah...Peoria area did well with the Nov 30-Dec 1, 2006 storm. Springfield had 6.2", but it was a lot of mix.

I think the Lake helps Chicago, where places in central IL are land-locked...sort of speak.
