machetemoonlight
about 5 inches now in Hixson, Tn. don't see how this storm does not exceed 6-7 inches before it's all over.
valkhorn
Radar returns are slightly weaker but they could build back up again overnight. I'm not sure how many more hours of precip we'll get but if it snows until 6AM (8 more hours) and there's a quarter inch an hour that's 4 inches more - at least. Who knows how much if another heavy band develops, or if that final band is a killer. I'm nearing 6" on the NW side of Knoxville (just also saw an official report of 6" near Powell several miles from my house), and I think 8" is a given for me now. Who knows how much more will fall. Chattownsnow
things have calmed down a lot here. looks like the radar is diminishing to the west of Chattanooga too . hopefully it picks back up soon.
machetemoonlight
looks like a healthy glob in NE AL to me.. but I guess it's shrinking.. Could all be dying out. I'm satisfied. I didn't think it was going to do this much to be honest.
Blue Ridge
As posted in another thread, Robert's thoughts: WXSOUTH @WxSouth 1m Looking at latest trends. East TN, west NC, north GA and southwest VA will be in for a good clocking tonight and tomorrow AM. #thundersnow
Seabeejason
Just measured again. We now have 5.5 inches 5 miles south of Maryville. 6:00PM Dusting 7:15PM 1.85" 8:25PM 3" 9:30PM 4" 10:40PM 5.5"
Vol Man
Robert also mentioned in a comment under one of his posts that he had underpredicted storm totals for ETN...might be getting more through the night than we first thought? His comment is below...he is so awesome on predicting these storms!!! I always check with him when these events start to develop anywhere west of 85 and esp . west of 77 in VA and NC by early morning is the best chance, and the best chances of really heavy snow is western VA and all of western NC mountains and foothills, all of eastern TN (where I was way too low in my snow maps) and northern tier of counties of GA and northeast AL. Stovepipe
Just shy of 4.5 inches here now. Got under another thin band that kicked up some more nickle sized flakes.
John1122
Meant to post this here instead of the storm thread. Averaged out to about 5.75 on the ground. Still pouring quarters.
Cotton7204
Well, I've already got nearly twice what dave deirks forecasted in clintwood, right now at 8 and its still pouring.
dwagner88
6" here. Measured on a car top. Unless that ULL starts moving more east and less north, I think we might be mostly finished with this one.
Stovepipe
Some crazy banding in the western valley right now at midnight. I-75 corridor up through Oak Ridge and Clinton, looks wild on radar.
machetemoonlight
^ I was just going to post an identical comment.. it looks to have stalled and is visibly shrinking on radar. Looks like about half a foot here in my neighborhood, N. Chatt.
John1122
Midnight update, 6.75 inches, moderate/heavy snow falling. Very heavy snow just south of me in Anderson, Union and down to West Knox, should slowly rotate towards me. Gonna be localized spots of 10 inches or more in the central Valley. John1122
My cousin at 2800 feet who was under the band that sat to my WNW several hours before I got any snow.
John1122
Another friend in Norris says they have almost 10 inches too. That band is doing work tonight.
Carvers Gap
Kingsport. 6" and holding w/ the system winding down. We'll see if we can't take a swing at what the RAP depicts as the low (over Alabama) pulling up just east of the Apps. Maybe we can get 1-2 more. Overall, great storm. No complaints. dwagner88
A shot from outside my front door: Light snow is still falling. I will be curious to see if that ULL can give us some more snow tonight.
1234snow
6 inches here as well just north of Kingsport in VA! if we don't get another flake I'm happy but it will be interesting to see how this plays out tonight. The Euro/Canadian won hands down no contest.

machetemoonlight
the intensity has picked up again slightly in N. Chatt. Think that blob in Alabama is finally making its move. Or dying, not sure. Did a number of measurements in the backyard ( I live on a hill so hard to measure) and I'm going to say we're at 5.5 inches or thereabouts. Stovepipe
Looks like the I-75 line is juicing up again around Loudon and Sweetwater, building towards Greenback. I like what I see on radar, especially with dimes still mixing in here. Huntsville radar shows more pinwheel potential too. Still some life left in this thing, I bet it keeps going for several more hours.
machetemoonlight
can hear the tree limbs cracking every so often... thought I saw a lightning flash, but maybe not, no thunder, no heavy snow. One of these trees is coming down, just don't know which one. Turns out the dog I adopted in late 2011 loves the snow. Picked the perfect dog. Tabbycat
Still snowing pretty good. I'm getting concerned about the amount of snow on these tree limbs over my head and all up the street. Power lines are underground in here, but just up the street outside my condos they aren't and there are trees everywhere.
